Third POV
Lisa and her parents, together with Jisoo and Jennie, continued their talk in front of their meals.
"To answer your questions earlier..." Lily started as she looks at Jisoo and Lisa. "Chaeyoung's mother, Rachel, was my friend back in high school."
"What?!" Lisa said loudly at the information her mother is giving her.
"Yes, as you know, I studied in Korea way way back in my grade school and high school years right?" Lily asked, making Lisa to nod. "Together with your aunt who permanently stayed here in Korea while me... I decided to go back home. But, before that, I have already entered this agency where I have met your dad which is why we became agents based in Thailand after we settled."
"After I got back to our hometown, I haven't had any contact with Rachel since then. I didn't even knew that she was married with the owner of the VNtech. We just knew until now because Lex had told us."
"Lex had just told us yesterday about it and on what happened to Chaeyoung," Marcus explained. "We immediately booked a flight here and decided to stay in a hotel last night and just go here in the agency this morning."
As the conversation is getting deeper, the three almost stopped eating their lunch and just focused on what Lisa's parents are telling them.
"One year after Chaeyoung had become part of our family, your mother and I started to investigate what was the real reason why would Rachel just suddenly leave Chaeyoung to us," Marcus continued.
"You all know that the case or the series of this mission of the agency about the VNtech had started ten years ago, right?" Lily stated as the three nodded in agreement.
"We both started it. We were the first batch of agents to take on this mission."
"Really?" Jennie widened her eyes. "But why only a year after?"
"Because Chaeyoung's first months with us were hard," Lily answered as she looks at Jennie. "She lost her memories. She lost herself."
"We honestly struggled to make her feel home and probably to make her feel herself again. After a year, it was actually not enough but her mental stability was getting better especially with the help of Lisa. She really opened Chaeyoung's heart to feel welcomed in our family and for her to realize that she's a part of it."
"Do you know why she had lost her memories?" Jisoo asked.
"Eleven years ago, Rachel just brought Chaeyoung to us one night..." Lily replied as she turned her head to Marcus, looking for comfort.
