A tale to tell

"Hey you wore it again."

"Bakit? Ayaw mo ba?"

"No-no. I just... Hindi ko lang inexpect na you kept it. All this time, na sayo parin."

Hinawakan ni Ruru ang pendant but Kylie put his hand on her left chest.

"Hindi naman talaga nawala. You're always in here. Always."

"Always." The two kissed then....

"Darling bakit?" Pagtataka ni Ruru looking concern by Kylie's sudden jolt.

"Wala, I just felt something."

"A kicked?"

Tumango si Kylie who's now his wife. Hinipo nya ang malaking tyan nito and smile when he felt a kick. Hindi sya kaagad nakapagsalita. Hindi lang basta sipa ang naramdaman nya, kilig, tuwa, saya, basta halo-halo na.

An overflowing love coming from him na even him, hindi maipaliwanag.

After a month of staying in Singapore the two decided to get married, they couldn't make it sa beach due to the pandemic kaya naman ginawa na lang nila itong main theme.

A few selected family and friends was there. Others and the rest of their relatives sa Zoom na lang nag gathered.

It was different, simple, and strange but they were happy and contented.

A year later Kylie announced na she's pregnant as a surprise gift of their first anniversary.

Ruru thought it was some kind of prank pero she showed him the stick. It red two red lines kaya naman tumalon sa tuwa si Raffa shouting.

"I'm gonna be super Kuya na yes!!!"

Natawa na lang sila sa eksena.

"Ayus ka lang?" Tanong ni Kylie nang mapansin nyang lumuluha ang mister nya. "It's normal kaya wala ka dapat ikabahala."

"I know I know. Hindi lang talaga ako makapaniwala na nandito ka, si Raffa and this baby." Hinimas-himas nya ang tyan ng misis nya. "Thank you for this chance Ky, thank you."

Face red kakapigil ng luha, hinatak ni Kylie ang mukha ng mister nya. "Ano ka ba.. nandito ka, nadito tayo hindi dahil sakin. But also dahil sayo, kung hindi mo ko nilaban...hindi ko alam kung ano ang buhay ko. Kaya thank you rin sayo."

"I love you." Sniffling, he wiped her tears away kissing her.

"Love you too Darling."

Three months later nanganak si Kylie to a bouncing baby girl. They named her Precious Nicole Balbuena.

Isang araw nag labor si Kylie at halos mabaliw si Ruru at di mapakali.

Ruru didn't know what to do for the first time na nakita nyang ganito si Kylie with the contractions. He kept rubbing her back, swaying back and forth habang nakasandal sa kanya ang misis nya and saying nothing but sweet words habang namimilipit ito sa sakit.

Ngayon palang na nandito sya hirap na hirap na ito what more pa kaya nung kay Raffa?

He couldn't imagine the pain she went through nung time na wala sya sa tabi nito.

So he held her hand and whispered sorry.

Napatingin si Kylie sa kanya, and stared at his eyes dun palang alam nya na ang ibig-sabihin nito.
Kaya kahit na in pain sya, Kylie smiled heartily and continued to focus on her breathing.

Ruru was the one who cut the cord when Precious was born. Nanginginig pa nga ang mga kamay at halos hindi makapaniwala na nalabas na sa wakas ang daughter nila.
