“He’s here!  Come on!” My mom said bursting into my room and grabbing me. 

I quickly went along with her to the two doors that led down a staircase to the front door.  “Mother?!  You are not honestly thinking of doing a grand entrance, are you?!”

“Come on Abril! It’ll be fun!” She giggled.

“Oh gosh.” I groaned as she placed me in front of the doors.

“Now I’m going to go first then introduce you. Wait for my signal!”

“Yes ma’am.” I mumbled, conceding to the crazy woman’s wishes.

She then slid out the doors and I could hear her through them.  “Hello Chase!  Welcome back to our home.”

“Thank you for having me Mrs. Hanson.” I heard him reply politely.

“Oh you can call me Caroline.”

“Will do.” I could hear the smile in his voice.

“Now, I would like to announce your lovely girlfriend.” She said and the doors opened and I stepped out. 

I looked down at him, and just as my mother predicted his mouth was slightly open and his whole face showed surprise, but I was pretty sure mine was the same.

His hair wasn’t a crazy mess as it usually was; he was wearing a black button up with a white bow tie and nice jeans to top it off. 

“Wow.” He said quietly.

“I told you.” My mom whispered to me.

I smiled and rolled my eyes at her.

I got to the bottom of the stairs and my mom went and wrapped her arm in my dad’s while I went up awkwardly to Chase.

“You look amazing.” He said, still staring.

“Don’t get used to it.” I laughed.

He smiled at me, “Duly noted.” Then took my hand in his as we walked into the dining room behind my parents.

Once we all sat down our food was served and we began chatting here and there.

“So Chase, we’re how long have you had feelings for Abril?” My mom asked.

“Um…well since sophomore year.” He said with a smile, “It was kind of sudden.”

“I do remember you.” She chuckled, “You were the loud one.”
