Delaney
"That's one win down now we've got 4 more to go so we can move onto the next round!" I say looking at Morgan. She smiles at me and I take in some of the features she shares in common with her brother. When she talks about hockey and family, her blue eyes light up just the way Chris's brown ones do whenever he talks about those things.
"They play again on Monday right?" She asked as I nod. "Yeah they do." I reply. "Guess I'm coming back on Monday then." Morgan says with a closed mouth smile. "I'm cool with that and I actually think Mason's gonna be back next week too." I reply.
"Oh cool, maybe I'll get to meet him then." She says checking her phone. "Yeah, he's super chill." I smile as I pull a blanket off the back of the couch as Morgan changes the channel to another hockey game that's on tv.
"Is it cool if I watch the Oilers and Sabres game?" She asks. "Yeah, go for it! Let me guess, you're an Oilers fan?" I ask as she turns and looks at me. "How'd you know?" She exclaims. "Well, you are from Alberta and your brother may or may not have mentioned it before." I give her a smile.
"Of course Chris would tell you that! Did he tell you who my favourite player was too?" She asked raising her eyebrows. I let out a small laugh and reply. "No but I bet I can guess who it is on the first try." She sits silent for a moment before crossing her arms over her chest. "Okay, try me." She says with a confident look on her face. I raise my eyebrows and smile. "Connor McDavid." Once the name leaves my mouth Morgan rolls her eyes and exclaims. "Damn you're good!" I smile and say. "I know!" Before grabbing my book off the coffee table and laying down on the couch before opening up the book to start reading.
"Not gonna watch with me?" Morgan questions. "No, I've had enough screen time for today but I am
Listening to it." I reply looking over my book to look at her. "Alright." She says.******
"Dels fell asleep like 20 minutes ago." I hear Morgan whisper as I still keep my eyes closed. I stay still as I hear the door close and the sound of feet shuffling across the floor. "And I'm assuming she was reading when she fell asleep?" I hear Chris's voice ask. I must have dropped my book on the floor when I moved around in my sleep because the next thing I know, I hear Chris place something down in the table.
"Hey, I'm gonna go put her to bed, I'll be back out to watch the rest of the game with you in a couple minutes." He whispers to Morgan before I feel the blanket that I had over me being lifted off my body. "Okay" I hear Morgan whisper.
"Alright, come on sleeping beauty, let's get you into bed." I hear him say quietly as I'm being lifted up
Off the couch and into his strong arms. I lean into Chris's chest a little as he carries me out of the living room and down the hall to my room.He places me down gently onto my bed and places a kiss on the top of my head. Should I wake up now and tell him I wasn't really asleep or just keep my eyes closed? "Okay, I'll be back in later, sweet dreams beautiful." He whispers. Okay time to open my eyes!
When I open them, he has his back turned to me so I take this chance to reach out and grab his hand to stop him. "Wait." I say making him jump slightly. "What's wrong? Is everything okay? Did you need something?" He asks beginning to get a little worried. "No, no. Relax, I'm done but I could use a glass of water." I reply leaning on my left arm for a little support. "Okay, I'll get you one, hold on." He replies moving towards the door.
"Also, if Morgan wants to sleep in the guest room, it's available for her." I add with a small smile. "Alright, I'll let her know." He says before disappearing into the hallway.
While he's gone, I stay awake and lay on my back staring up at the ceiling. "Here you are my love." He says a couple seconds after, appearing in the doorway with a glass of water in his hand. I sit up and lean against the head board as he extends the glass out for me to take.
"Thanks." I say reaching out and taking the glass of water before bringing it to my lips and downing half of it. "Morgan's gonna stay at my place tonight. She's got some extra clothes and stuff in one of the guest rooms at my apartment so she's gone over there for the rest of the night." He says sitting down on the bed next to me. "Oh, okay. Weren't you going to watch the rest of the Oilers game with her?" I ask.
"Hey, how'd you know I told her that?" He asks with a confused look on his face. I give him an amused smile and don't respond when he gets an ah ha! moment. "You weren't really sleeping were you?" He asks smiling at me. "I was asleep and was waking up but I kept my eyes closed." I reply. "And all that time, I could have woken you up so you could go to bed!" He exclaims chuckling as I sit there smiling at him. "You could have just left me to sleep on the couch tonight. I would have been fine with that." I reply. "I know but what if I wanted to carry you to your bed? I couldn't just let you sleep on the couch all night! It's not as comfy as this bed." He says.
"You're right, you're right! And I thank you for that." I smile up at him while placing a hand on his chest while the other one wraps around his torso and I press a soft and gentle kiss to his cheek.
"I was thinking." Chris says. "Oh no, that's a dangerous thing!" I laugh as he rolls his eyes and grins. "Maybe in the morning we could take Morgs out for breakfast before we take her home." He says before waiting for me to respond. "Yeah, I think that would be a lovely idea." I reply. "See, that wasn't so dangerous now was it?" He says smiling down at me.
******
The next morning, I woke up and Chris was no longer next to me. I look over to my night table and check the time on the alarm clock which read 8:45 am. I get out of bed and go over to my closet to pick out today's outfit.
"What to wear? What to wear?" I ask myself letting out a sigh as I skim through my clothes. Finally after a few minutes, I decide on a pair of black skinny jeans and a blue tie dye long sleeve with a pair of white sneakers. I go into my bathroom and place the clean clothes in the counter. When I look into the mirror, I notice a sticky note stuck to it in on the right side.
Went back to my place to get ready for the day. Come over when you're ready to go.
- Love Chris ❤️The note read. I stripped down and hopped into the hot shower to help wake me up and feel very refreshed. After I shampooed and conditioned my hair and finished everything else. I hopped out of the shower to dry off and change into today's outfit before throwing my hair up into a messy bun. I put everything away before going back into my room to make my bed.
After I finished my morning routine, I grabbed my jacket, wallet and keys before heading out the door and walking a couple doors over to Chris's apartment. I knock on the door gently and wait a few seconds before the door's being opened by Morgan.
"Morning Dels." She smiles. "Morning Morgs." I reply stepping inside before she shuts the door behind me. "He's not done getting ready yet." She says rolling her eyes. "Of course he's not!" I reply playfully as we sit down on the couch.
