Chapter 39

Delaney

"Feels good to be home!" I exclaim dropping my bags at the door and going over to the couch. "You've got that right!" Chris says closing the door. "What's the plan for our day off tomorrow?" He asks falling back next to me on the couch. "Jace got a new puppy. Did you know that?" I ask looking at Chris.

He smiles and runs his hand through his hair. "Okay first, I didn't know that and second what does that have to do with our plans for tomorrow?" He asks as I smile. "Jace told me about his puppy who's name is Cash and then he dropped the bomb that he's got a girlfriend which leads me to our plans for tomorrow." I say as I place my hand on his knee.

"Jason told me that when we got back from Chicago, I could go over and meet Cash and Nicole. So if you want to come with me tomorrow after lunch to meet them, you're more than welcomed to do so." I finish with a smile. "What kind of dog did he get?" Chris asks. "An adorable Australian Sheppard." I reply. "Alright, I'm down to go with you." He says a couple seconds later.

"Good because I may have already told him you were coming with me." I say hitting my lip and looking at him from the corner of my eye. "What if I had plans already?" Chris asks. I turn and look at him. "But you don't! Because if you did you wouldn't be asking me what our plans were for tomorrow." I reply as he takes my hand in his and raises his eyebrows at me. "You're lucky I love you Dels." He says.

Chris takes the remote from the coffee table and turns on the tv. "Want to watch a movie or something?" He asks. "Maybe later, I'm gonna unpack and do some laundry first." I reply pushing myself up off the couch before going to grab my bags from the door to take them down to our room. "Here, let me help you." He says getting up and coming over to try and help me. "It's alright, I've got it." I say. "No, let me help you babe." He insist. "Okay, you take my bag to our room and I'll bring yours down. Deal?" I ask. "Fine." He huffs, taking my bag from my hand.

"Dels you coming to watch the movie or not?" Chris shouts from the living room. "I'll be out in a couple of minutes!" I shout back as I empty the water from the bath tub. After the water's all drained and I'm dressed, I grab my brush from the vanity and brush the knots out of my hair.

"What's the rush babe? We've got all-." I begin to say walking out into the living room to see that he had all the lights turned off except for the ones underneath the cupboards in the kitchen and the twinkling lights Chris had put up in the living room. "What's all this?" I ask taking in how he had set the living room up for date night in, all while I was in the bath.

"It's our dinner and a movie date night in." He smiles as I look at the coffee table to see a large meat lovers pizza at the centre of the table with a bowl of chips and a box of chicken bites on each side of the box. "I even got you your favourite drinks." He adds as I look from him to the table to see two of my favourite drinks sitting on the table next to his beers.

"So what do you think love?" He asks moving forward and wrapping his arms around me. "Chris, I love it. It's absolutely beautiful!" I smile placing my hand on his chest and standing on my top
toes to plant a soft kiss to his lips.

"Now let's eat cause I'm starving!" I exclaim grabbing a plate from the table and placing a slice of pizza onto my plate. "Way to ruin the romantic moment we were having!" He says. I sit down on the couch and roll my eyes at him. "The night isn't over yet lover boy." I grin as he gives me a smirk back in reply.

The next morning I woke up wrapped in Chris's arms. I look up trying not to move much, hoping I don't wake him. I place my hand on his bare chest and place a gentle kiss on the top of his nose before bringing my hand up to his face to move the loose strands of brown hair from his face as I smile to myself. Remembering the memories from last night's  dinner and a movie followed by our heated make out session that ended up with the two of us tangled up in the sheets.

"Good morning beautiful girl." Chris says in a raspy morning voice with a smirk on his face. "Good morning my love." I smile as he places his forehead against my own. "Did you sleep well?" He asked. "Like a baby." I reply as he looks at me with a smirk still plastered on his face. He's gotta be up to something. Right? I look at him without saying a word as I analyze his facial features, trying to get a good read on what he's thinking.

"What's going on up in that head of yours babe?" Chris asks snapping me out of my own thoughts. "Thinking about how all I feel like doing today is staying in this bed with you. Where it's warm and not raining." I reply. Chris smiles and runs his hand through my hair. "I know Dels but we gotta get up. We're going to meet Cash and Nicole today. Remember?" He replies. "Yeah, I know, I'm just really comfy laying here at the moment." I say. "I know, me too babes but I'm gonna get up and make breakfast now. So you have to let me get out of bed." He says.

"And what if I don't want to?" I challenge. "Then I guess you won't be having any breakfast today." He replies. "That's fine, I'm not hungry anyways." I shrug. "You might not be hungry but I am. So please Dels, let me get up." Chris pleas. "No, I don't wanna!" I whine. "I'm loving these cuddles." I add. "Just like you were loving on me last night." Chris says as he wiggles his eyebrows.  I knew it! I knew he'd  bring that up at some point!

"Hey, that's not funny!" I exclaim slapping his arm as he takes the opportunity to free himself to get out of bed. "You stay in bed, I'll be back in a few minutes with breakfast." He says walking towards the door. "I love you Christopher!" I exclaim as he's walking out of the room. "I love you too Delaney!"

"Hi, I'm Delaney! It's nice to finally meet you. Jason has told me so much about you!" I smile while shaking Nicole's hand. "All good things I would hope! I'm Nicole by the way and Jason has certainly told me a lot about you too!" She replies. "Come on in and have a seat." Jason says closing the door behind Chris.

"You guys want anything to drink?" Jason asks. "Chris? Would you like a beer or something buddy?" He asks. "Yeah sure, I'll take one." Chris replies as Jason looks over at me waiting for an answer. "Glass of water is fine for me." I say before Jason disappears I to the kitchen.

When Jason comes back, he hands a beer to Chris and the glass of water to me. "I'll be right back, let me go get Cash so you can meet him." Jason says as I nod. While he's gone, we get to know more about Nicole. She's from Victoria BC, went to school to be a nurse and is currently working at SickKids.

"Alright, here he is!" Jason says appearing back in the room with a black and white puppy with a couple brown patches and blue eyes. "Oh my god, he's so cute!" I squeal as Jason places the pup in my arms. "Hi Cashy boy! You're so cute and soft!" I coo petting the puppy in my arms.

"He seems to have taken a quick liking to you Delaney." Nicole smiles. "He's so quiet." Chris says scratching behind Cash's ear. "He's a really good puppy. That's for sure!" Jason replies. "Yes and it makes it easier on us for puppy training." Nicole adds.

I keep my eyes glued to the puppy in my lap as I smile at him. "Don't think Dels is gonna let go of Cash here." Chris says. "I mean can you blame me? He's so soft and cuddly! I'm not letting go anytime soon!" I exclaim. "Well, I better make sure you don't take my boy home with you then!" Jason says.
