Chapter 44: Miracles Do Happen

Loki's POV:

I paced back and forth in my cell, anxiety taking over me. I must know what was going to happen to me so I can speak up before my trial. Tell all the truth... specially to Angela. The shacking of keys brought me out of my thoughts and made me turn. The door opened slowly and I didn't hesitate to shout "So? What did they say?!"

"Umm, hi." Angela showed up in the half opened steel door.

I sigh and give her a small smile. "Oh. It's you Angela. Come in." I stop and frown. "Wait, you can't be down here, Odin..."

"He doesn't know and he won't know I'm down here. I just have some things to ask you." She said and closed the door behind her.

"When don't you have questions?" I joke around.

"Ha ha, funny. Look... I have this feeling... you're keeping something from me. Well, not for long because now I know." Angela said.

"What? If you so know, then tell me." I say and sit on my bed.

"You knew I never lost the baby." My eyes widen up and I stood up, not believing what I just heard her say. "Why did you do it? How did you do it?!"

It was time. She knew now so she deserved to know the truth. I take in a deep breath and spoke. "It wasn't that easy to do it. It was risky but it was worth a try. And... I did it because I couldn't loose either of you. I just couldn't go through the same thing all over again!" I placed my hands in my face and the images of my past came to me.

"Loki..." Angela's hand was pressed against my shoulder. I shock my jead and stood up.

"I saved both of you and in order to do that... I had to... freeze the baby... in a way." I said and turned to see her sitting down.

"You what?!" She shouted.

"I know it was dangerous but I swear it was the only thing I could do in order for you to heal faster." I quickly said.

"Heal? Explain this to me better Loki." She said.

"Look, Thanos did some damage on your womb and I fixed it, but it needed some time to heal. If you kept on with the pregnancy, you would have lost the baby or worse. Never have children." I say. I looked at her straight in the eyes but I couldn't tell what she was thinking.

"So... you stopped the pregnancy in order for me to get better?" She asked.

"Yes. It took from 5 to 6 months, and after that, the pregnancy would continue." I finished and leaned against the wall.

She didn't speak or did any gestures. All she did was sit there, looking at her hands and playing with her thumbs. "Please say something. I really can't stand this silence."

Angela got up and looked straight at me. "You were going to be executed. GOING TO. I changed the Court's decision last minute with the announcement of me being pregnant and you being the father. For now, you'll stay here until further notice." She walked towards the door but I stopped her by pulling her arm and spin her towards me.

"Why do you do this to me?" I say. She only looks at my eyes but does say anything. I caress her cheek gently and she closes her eyes.

"I'm just... both thanked and affraid." She finally said.

"Why affraid?"

"Because I don't know if I can trust you anymore." She said and tried to leave again.

"Trust my love." I say and she smirks a bit. In a blink of an eye she had left. I felt relieved at what she told me and what I told her.
