she mumbled before getting up from the rubble and fluttering towards him, hovering over the ground so she wouldn't have to look up at him. she stared at him, almost scared to touch him in fear of him disappearing before her very eyes. she'd seen him so many times in her dreams.
her only fear was waking up.
his chuckles broke the heavy silence.
"fawn, you do realize you can touch me, right?"
she gasped and quickly tried to recover.
"o-of course i do!"
she stumbled before grasping his face in her hands, gleaming at the sigh of him.
"look at you! you're still smiling after all these years- my darling al."
"yes, yours."
"i know."
she replied cheekily, before someone cleared their throat.
"can someone explain what the fresh hell is going on?"
the winged cat demon bluntly asked.
"yeah."
"agreed."
"yeah, what the fuck-"
"i was hoping that another lady wouldn't show up, no offense."
"none taken."
"ahem."
alastor cleared his throat and everyone stared at him blankly, desperately waiting for an explanation.
"you see, my dear associates- this lovely angel you see before you is my wife-"
"wife? who said you could call me your wife?"
"-partner, regardless of labels."
husker burst out laughing as alastor deadpanned.
"yOU- you mean to tell me- this, this angel was with you- that- that's funny— good joke. i thought the stick you had up your ass was too far up for you to make any actually good jokes."
"it's not a joke."
"oh."
"...shit."
the petite angel burst into laughter.
"al, you're still so stuck up, after so many years- decades? i can't really tell anymore."
(y/n) said joyously as charlie gaped at her.
"auntie (y/n)...?"
the angel turned to her in shock.
"auntie? pardon dear, you may be confused- wait, how did you know my name?"
"it's really you! my father talked so much about you- he always said that you were the only thing he regretted leaving behind in heaven."
"luci?"
the angel asked shakily as charlie nodded happily.
"oh, come here my dear."
the angel said happily, opening her arms up to her niece. the sweet moment was cut short by radio static.
"zip it alastor, i'm having a moment. you can be jealous some other time."
"yes ma'am."
the rest of the group laughed, it seemed almost insane that someone could make the radio demon listen to them. after introductions, they all got back into the hotel.
"my darling fawn, how did you get down here?"
"she fell, dickwad."
"naturally but- i'd like to know the logistics behind it, you see. did you get hurt?"
alastor worriedly turned to the angel beside him, the smile that was usually plastered on his face slightly dimmed.
"i got hurt on impact but you do realize i heal immediately, right?"
"i know but i'm talking about him."
and suddenly, all the life in her eyes had gone, the jaded yellow that replaced her brilliant gold returned in a flash.
"oh... him."
"i— i didn't follow his orders."
"what were your orders, love?"
"eliminate alastor leroux, that's what he said. something about 'closure' as if he'd care about how i felt anyways."
she huffed, sinking into the old worn-down sofa, her ginormous wings flaying around uncomfortably.
"so- you mean to tell me you disobeyed god to get to me?"
