(CW: car crash description)

Cass felt herself back in that dark warmth. They had felt the same thing when they died in the snow. Were they dead again? For once they couldn't tell. Everything felt weird. There was this eerie silence that surrounded them in this void, which made their thoughts very loud. For once, Cass felt more aware of herself. She was aware she was in this space again and that she had been there before. This time they stayed there much longer.

It was the light that pulled them out of the darkness once again. It was warm against their face. The sun. They had felt the same warmth time and time again to know that it was the sun. But as feelings began to return with their consciousness the sunlight was no longer as pleasant. Cass felt the throbbing in her head and her arms, like she had managed to throw herself through a window. Her hands felt deathly cold despite how warm it actually was. As feelings began to return slowly down their body, they noted how sore they felt. Muscles screamed as though she had put them through the most intense workout. The real pain started once feeling returned to her lower back. It was like someone drove a hot knife in between her vertebrae, and from there down the feeling almost completely stopped. Her legs were cold and partially numb, but the pain returned in the middle of their femur, nearly as bad as the pain in their spine. Surely it was just a sprain?

Cass was a little confused. She couldn't exactly remember what had happened before, so she lied still with her eyes shut tight just trying to remember something. She felt she was laying down, slightly curled up on a cold and hard floor. They wiggled their fingers, feeling the stiff fabric of a brand new shirt. Their nice shirt...

The memories came rushing back as fast as the crash happened. And with the memories came the pain. It felt like she had been hit by the car all over again. She felt a replay of the glass shattering and spraying against her skin, the front of the car caving in and crushing her right leg, her head flying forward and slamming into the steering wheel. The pain rising from her spine was the worst of it. It was like an explosion of hot glass under her skin. Once this hit her she felt like she would pass out again. She was writing on the ground, trying to adjust to make it feel somewhat better but each movement made her feel so much worse.

Their silence was no more, and a hoarse screaming rang out. She finally opened her eyes, tears rushing down her dirty face. She tried to process where she was, and it definitely wasn't the rough concrete of the road she thought she was on. The floor was smooth, grey concrete that had been dirtied with years of neglect. The light that was shining on Cass' face was falling through one of the many holes in a tall ceiling. There were broken pieces of metal all around the floor from the ceiling, along with pieces of nature that had fallen though from the outside. Sticks and dead leaves littered the place. There was noise, but her ears were ringing so much that she almost didn't notice it.

It was slow, deep metallic clangs hitting the floor and low mutters. She tried to silence her grunts and groans to listen more, biting down on her dusty fist. The taste of blood filled her mouth, but it did the trick of keeping her quiet.

"She's awake." a voice echoed.

"I heard." a disembodied grumble replied. "Maybe you should have been more careful with the extraction." Cass recognized this voice as Breakdown.

The other voice scoffed. "What did you want me to do? It put it to sleep for a minute so we didn't have to deal with it trying to escape. If anything you should be thanking me."

"You realize it was dead when we got here, right? You're lucky Megatron isn't here yet or else he'd have your head."

"Well it being awake now just confirms that this is the human he wanted. You're welcome."
