"F-fuck." You muttered to yourself.

Your whole body shook with pain rooted deep in your muscles, aching to your core and forcing you to groan as your only form of coping. The chill that coursed through your body didn't do you any favours either as you went stiff under the mountain of blankets you had on simply to find any form of solace among the pain. This was definitely a cold of some sort, but it felt like it came straight from hell, plaguing your body while you remained in bed trying to fend it off. The shivers wouldn't stop, and when it had been long enough for Marco to become concerned for your whereabouts, he entered your room to see if you were alright since he hadn't seen you today yet.

"_______, you're still in bed." He spoke softly as he cracked your door open. "Is something wrong? Normally you're up by now."

"Y-yeah. I woke up and felt like totally s-shit." You chattered. "I think I caught a c-cold of some sort. I dunno where or how, b-but there's no other explanation."

Approaching you with concern, Marco sat on the edge of your bed and reached over to feel your forehead. Sure enough you were burning up, and your body was visibly shaking despite all those blankets.

"You've definitely caught something. Take those blankets off to start before you overheat and end up in worse condition." He instructed, voice saturated with worry.

"B-but I'm so cold." You complained.

"I'll fix that next. You already know better." He insisted, peeling off the layers of fabric.

You sighed and agreed, pushing off as many blankets as you could with his help. Once they were all off he picked out a thinner one for you to use and draped it over you before leaving your room for a moment. Clutching the thin blanket tightly you waited for him to come back, taking deep breaths to try and keep yourself together. When he finally returned he came with some pain killers and a glass of water, offering them to you. You struggled to sit up, but managed and took hold of the pills, taking them and hoping the pain would stop soon.

"Thank you. I hope it kicks in soon." You groaned, sinking back down under the blanket.

"Don't worry. I'll take care of your pain for now until it does." He reassured you.

Marco then turned his right arm into the flaming wing of his phoenix form and rested it across your body, his bright blue flames engulfing you. Of course nothing around you burned up, but the pain you were in sure did. All of the tensing within your muscles ceased as the pain melted away under his flames, and a natural warmth washed over you as you let out a deep sigh. The flames of healing he had always came in clutch, and your convulsing ceased as he lifted his wing after a few more moments.

"Thank you, Marco." You said quietly. "I don't know what I would do without you."

He chuckled as he sat down next to you once more, resting his warm hand on your cheek. "If I didn't share my gift with you, what kind of lover would I be?"

He then leaned down to kiss you sweetly, making you melt under his touch. You felt so much better with him, that is until you realized he may end up sick from kissing you. Reluctantly, you pulled back, and expressed your concern for him.

"Wait, you might end up sick too if you kiss me." You pointed out.

"Don't worry, I won't, darling. Trust me." He reassured you with a kiss to your forehead. "Now, focus on getting a little more rest. I'm going to go make you some palatable food, so don't put on any more blankets while I'm gone, alright?"

"Alright, I won't." You nodded, settling back down. "Thank you again. Seriously."

"Anything for you, my love." He smiled, getting up from your bed. "I'll be back."

Once he exited your room you let out a comfortable sigh, feeling much better than you were before. He always took such good care of you, and you were grateful to have him as your partner. Everything would be alright as long as he was by your side; and so you drifted back off into the realm of sleep until he brought you your 'get better' meal, no longer plagued by those awful aches and chills.
