She

She wasn't aloud to talk
Not allowed to run
Not allowed to make decisions
Or spend to much time under the sun

She's supposed to be inside
washing the dishes and cleaning the house
If she doesn't know how to cook,
Then she'll be off to the streets by now

She shouldn't smile on random strangers
Because it's not a right attitude for a girl
She has to open her mouth to speak
Only if she's allowed to be heard

It may seem like an etiquette lesson
That is drifting her apart
It's stamped in her mind
Yet crumpled her heart

Now she doesn't smile
And she's considered rude
She doesn't speak anymore
Like she was told to do

She grew up to know her duty
And that is to wash and clean
Now she's locked up inside her miserable thoughts,
Not knowing what happiness means
