"Hiccup!"  Alaya rushed back through the forest, firewood being held by Moon so he couldn't yell at them for not getting it.

   "What?"  Hiccup grumbled.

"We think we know why the Dragon Hunters had their ambush set up so well - and why we were set up so horribly for failure,"  Alaya said.

"Not interested."  Hiccup turned away, rolling his eyes as though he thought Alaya was playing a 5-year-old's game.

"Haddock,"  Alaya said.  Hiccup stopped.  She knew that'd get his attention.  "We have a chance to avenge Paradise."

Hiccup inhaled sharply, then turned.  "Fine.  What is it?"

"Johann,"  Alaya said.  Amber lifted her head.  "Think about it.  He was the only one told outside of the Riders, but they weren't prepared when we didn't tell him."

Hiccup glanced at the ground.  "I...thought that too."

"Why didn't you think about it more?"  Alaya asked.  "Especially after your friend died."

Hiccup, finally, looked at her, even surprised instead of glaring.  "How did you -"

"Inference.  Surprisingly, school did come in handy - although I can throw most of the grammar and spelling lessons out the window."  Alaya chuckled.  "Shall we go question our traitorous trader?"

Hiccup sighed.  "Fine.  But I'm doing all the talking, you understand?"

"Yes sir."  Alaya nodded, turning to Moon as she dropped the firewood.

"Um, actually -"  Amber said.  Alaya hesitated.  "Would you mind staying here, Moon?  I just..."  Amber inhaled sharply.  "I don't want to come - y'know, try to be nice to the possible reason Paradise is dead, and...well, I don't want to stay alone."

"Dewdrop, would you mind?"  Alaya said hesitantly.

Dewdrop nodded.  "I'll give it a go - although I'd honestly rather carry you...it's easier for me.  But don't worry, it'll be secure - you might hurt a bit after, but it'd be secure."

Alaya sighed.  "Alright."  She pulled her sword out of the thick leather sword sheath attached to Moon's saddle and rested the axe on a small log that had been pulled out.  She unhooked Moon's saddle, emitting a sigh of relief from Moon, and draped it over a tree branch.  "We'll be back soon.  No killing each other."

"Aw, not even a little bit?"  Moon smiled.

"Well...alright.  A little bit.  Like - a twelfth."  Alaya amended.

"Okay."  Moon chuckled, turning toward the log and laying down so Amber could move the wood off her back.

   "What's a twelfth?"  Amber asked.

"Alright, so...how do you wanna do this?"  Alaya asked.

"Just...lay flat on the ground.  Face in the grass.  I am sorry."  Dewdrop said.

Alaya sighed and laid down, her face in the grass.  She could almost feel the earth underneath her, every tremor, whether from a dragon or an ant, rumbling through the earth, relevant to one thing or another.  She could also feel the cool grass.  It was itchy.

Suddenly, Alaya felt claws sink into the earth and wrap around her belly, lifting her into the air.  Never had Alaya felt like she herself was flying so much - well, except for when she was literally flying through the air toward her death, but...this was up there.
