Diana's POV
"Then as soon as we get Jake back, we get out of there." I said, as I kept my palms on the table, leaning in, supporting my body with my arms as I looked up at everyone. Taehyun nodded, as he stared at the blue-print of Jihun's house, which was spread over the table.
"That's a great plan. We can easily attack at night, get rid of Jihun and his men and bring back Jake, without anyone noticing that something is wrong." He said, as he moved his index finger over the layout, tracing the paths.
"So it's decided. We leave today at night." Heeseung said, as he looked at everyone. I sighed, as I nodded, moving away from the table.
"The only thing left is figuring out why Jihun is doing this, along with his mother, who was dead all along but then suddenly appeared out of thin air." I muttered, as I looked down at the floor, thinking of some possible reason.
"You said something?" Kai asked, as he turned his head around to look at me. I looked up, as I shook my head.
"Nope. Just a thought."
Yeonjun's POV
"You saw Aerum?" I asked Diana, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, playing with the necklace tied around her neck.
"Nope. She must be in her room." She said, shrugging her shoulders. I nodded, as I walked ahead, making my way towards the room which was given to Aerum for time being.
I saw her sitting on the bed, as she looked out of the window, lost in her thoughts. I knocked on the open door, causing her to turn around and greet me with a small smile.
"Come in. It's not my room after all." She said, as she turned her head around to look outside. I chuckled, as I walked ahead, sitting down beside her.
"It's not mine either." I said, sighing. She chuckled softly, as she continued to look outside. I followed her gaze, after which my eyes fell upon a tree branch, where two birds were sitting quietly, as if they were enjoying each other's company.
"I was just wondering how my life would have been if this never happened." She said, as if she exactly knew what question I had in my mind for her. "It seems really amusing to me, how the world takes away everything, just when you realised that your life was perfect." She said, sorrow evident in her voice.
"The world's like that. Just when you think everything is going fine, something happens." I stated, as I let out a deep sigh. Aerum turned her head around, as she looked at me intently.
"Any past experience?" She asked, curious. I nodded, as I looked down at my hands.
"I was born with normal parents, like everyone has. My mother loved me, though sometimes she would be really cold to me, as if she had a completely another personality. I never minded that as I was too small to think on such things. Even my Dad seemed to be fond of me. Everything was fine when something happened which made my mother take me away from my Dad. That day I realised that my Dad's love was fake. It was never there." I said my voice slightly cracking, as I fought back my tears which were threatening to fall down.
"What about Diana? Isn't she your sister?" Aerum asked softly, as she tilted her head in confusion. I nodded, as I let out a small cough, trying to hide the cracking in my voice.
"My mother married a man, who was Diana's Dad." I said, as I turned my head to look at her. She nodded slowly, as she noted down the fact mentally. "I thought that this was probably my family, where I belonged. But I was wrong. My step-dad was worse than my actual Dad. Plus, my mother stopped loving me for some reason. The only thing why I went on, bearing those things was just because of Diana." I said, letting out a breathy chuckle, as tears streamed down my eyes, after I looked away from Aerum, staring out of the window.
"Neither of us deserved this, yet we suffered. The world is unfair, Aerum. One day it might look at forgiving and kind but the other day it would be completely ruthless and harsh." I said, as I quickly wiped my cheeks. Aerum nodded, as she patted my shoulder softly.
"They say people live on only to look forward to something. When that purpose is removed, they somehow don't have the will to survive anymore. I suppose Diana and your mafia is that purpose for you?" She asked, as she turned her head to look at me. I nodded, smiling.
"Run a mafia, take care of your loved ones. Usually people have the loved ones as the purpose." I said, nodding. Aerum sighed, as she turned her head around, looking outside the window.
"What happens when you loose those loved ones?" She spoke softly, as I noticed that tears were streaming down her face. "People say even the hunger for getting revenge can keep a person alive for years, but what happens when they finally achieve that purpose?" She asked, as she turned her head around to look at me, her eyes glistening in tears.
I realised what she was trying to say. She had already lost her loved ones, to which she always looked forward to and now soon, she would avenge them, achieving the purpose and then she would be left without anything to look forward to.
"They find a new one." I said, trying to explain it to her. "They find a new one so that they can live their life completely." I spoke softly, trying to change her mind, as I looked at her intently. She nodded slowly, as she looked down at her hands.
"It's funny how we both speak out our emotions in each other's company as if we know each other for ages." She said, looking up at me, as she chuckled softly. I nodded, smiling, as I agreed to her.
