Chapter 9: What and Why

Third Person Pov

"So what are we doing here?" Yeji looked at the two girls who's in front of her looking at her crossed arms.

"Am I being interviewed?" Yeji raised her eyebrows.

"Yeji." Chaeryeong suddenly called her.

"Hm? Why?"

"Join the baseball team again." Ryujin suddenly said.

Yeji didn't know what to react at what they said. Joining the baseball team? Nah, definitely won't happen again.

Yeji took a deep breath before rejecting the offer of the two. She's really controling her anger because they're her friends.

"N—

"I know you'll reject it. Can you please think once again? Think about it carefully?" Chaeryeong cuts off Yeji, putting her hands on the table.

"My answer will still remain the same."

"No. It won't." Chaeryeong stared at Yeji seriously.

"You're just holding yourself back. Something is holding you back from playing."

Yeji closed her eyes. She can't deny what Chaeryeong said because it's true. She badly wants to play again but something is holding her back.

"Yeji, see? You can't deny it because it's true."

Ryujin stood up and sat beside Yeji. "We won't rush you to make your decision but we won't take no for an answer. You must always overcome your fears, Yeji."

Chaeryeong and Ryujin stood up from their table. "We'll get going now. Think carefully Yeji, think about what's holding you back." Ryujin reminded her friend before going out of the cafe.

"Do you think she'll think about it?" Ryujin sighed walking together with Chaeryeong going home.

"Yeah, she'll change her mind. Just trust her." Chaeryeong continued walking.

"Oh, wait." Ryujin stopped walking hearing her phone ringing.

"Yeji's calling!" Ryujin raised her eyebrows thinking why Yeji's calling her.

"Hello?"

"Ryujin? Can you and Chaeryeong come over to my house?"

"Why?"

"U-Uhm, I just want to tell you something. To the both of you." Yeii sighed over the phone.

"What did she say?" Chaeryeong mouthed asking Ryujin.

Ryujin raised her hand telling Chaeryeong's to wait for a minute.

"She's telling us to go over her house." Ryujin whispered removing her phone from her ear.

"O—

Chaeryeong grabbed Ryujin's phone, "Can Lia come over? With us?"

Ryujin furrowed her eyebrows out of confusion. Why would she ask Lia?

Does Chaeryeong likes her?

Maybe she does.

Yeji couldn't answer over the phone, "Silence means yes, Yeji! We'll go see you later with Lia!", Chaeryeong exclaimed.

"O-okay, see you later."

Ryujin grabbed her phone after hearing that the call is over. "Are you really inviting Lia? She just invited the two of us!"

"Hey whay are you mad? Calm down okay."Chaeryeong went near Ryujin and patter her shoulders.

"I'm just doing something, okay? Don't get jealous.", Chaeryeong chuckled teasing Ryu.

"Hey! Ryeong, I'm not jealous, okay?!" Ryujin removed Chaeryeong's hand over her shoulders and looked at her annoyingly.

"Okay! Okay, you said you're not!" Chaeryeong raised both of her hands admiting defeat from Ryujin.

"So what are you going to say? Yeji?" Ryujin asked Yeji.

Yeji took something from her pocket and placed into the table.

"Tickets?"

"Yeah. I'm inviting you tomorrow for a baseball game." Yeji exclaimed.

"Are you gonna play?" Lia asked grabbing one of the tickets looking at it carefully.

"No. It would be a waste to throw that tickets right? Just wanted to watch with you guys."

"What? Wait what did I heard? You said you wanted to watch with us?!" Chaeryeong showed an shock expression and Ryujin joined it.

Yeji avoided eye contacts with them and covered her face. She's shy. This is the first time she invited someone to watch a game with her.

They're her friends now.

"Yes! Yes! You heard it right! Happy?" Yeji grunts seeing the three of them smiling widely.

"So I guess we won't attend our classes tomorrow?" Ryujin asked the three of them.

"That's fine at least I'm not the only who's gonna skip classes tomorrow!" Lia giggled so did Yeji.

"Tomorrow will be fun." Yeji thought to herself.

Yeji, Lia, Ryujin and Chaeryeong went to the baseball stadium after lunch. The three of them stayed at Yeji's house for a sleep over. Ryujin and Chaeryeong just went back to their house to change some clothes and Lia borrowed some from Yeji.

"Here's our seats!" Lia pointed at the numbers behind the chairs. Ryujin and Chaeryeong carefully seated holding their cotton candies.

"Yeji! Let's exchange our seats, you seat beside Ryujin. I'll seat beside Lia." Chaeryeong stood up.

Yeji looked at Chaeryeong hesitating to get out of her seat but after a while they both exchanged their seats. Ryujin and Chaeryeong are at the both ends of their seats.

"So you're really setting them up?" Lia suddenly whispered.

"Yes. You know that already." Chaeryeong continued eating her cotton candy as the game started.

Ryujin and Yeji didn't bother to talk to each other as they're both into the game. The team that is playing is their favorite that's why they're into it.

"Want some sugar?", Ryujin asked Yeji who's looking tired from all the shouting.

"Thanks."

The half of the game went by so fast. Ryujin and Yeji still have the energy to cheer for their team while Lia and Chaeryeong are just silently watching.

"You already took a lot of pictures." Chaeryeong teased Lia. Her friend brought her camera to take some pictures of the game. Lia is actually a photographer that's why she has a camera.

"I know. But the view is nice." Lia chuckled checking the pictures she took.

"Hmm, just admit that Yeji is looking nice. I bet there's a dozen of pictures of her face there.", Chaeryeong whispered laughing at her friend.

Lia rolled her eyes. "Fine, I'm going to admit that."

Lia actually has a crush on Yeji. Well, Chaeryeong knew it from the start that's why she's helping her. Chaeryeong couldn't believe she's helping two people for Yeji.

Ryujin on the other side couldn't help but stare at Lia and Chaeryeong who's talking to each other since earlier. She just wants to focus on the game but she can't help feel irritated about those two.

And she doesn't even know why.

She shook her head and just focused watching on the game.
