Chapter five

Jeremy part two:

Salashida's Choice

Flashback 2 years and 8 months.

Jeremy's P.O.V.

In the kitchen eating dinner with parents.

It had been a month since the Great One told me why he needed me. It had also been four months since Salashida gave himself up to save me. Since then I've done nothing but train, plan, and stratagize for my attack on Zertiave.

I found myself staring at my plate of food, while my parents gave me concerned looks. They were almost never home, so I figure their safe from Zertiave. Or at least I think they are.

'You can do it Jeremy. I have faith in you.' that was the last thing Salashida said to me as he took his final breath.

How could I have let that happen. How did I let Zertiave get Salashida. I felt my eyes begin to sting so I asked if I might be excused from the table.

"Sure son." my father said.

I went to my room to reflect on the events of that terrible day that was only four months ago.

Flashback about four months.

'Jeremy, do you even realize how powerful he is? I don't think you truly comprehend just what exactly your coming up against.'

'Yes. Of course I realize what I'm coming up against. And that's exactly why I must defeat him soon, before he gets any more powerful then he already is. And before he finds the key to the secrets of Gelderesh. If he finds the key, Gonderash is doomed.' I told Salashida.

'He won't find the key as long as you stay here. Trust me, you need more training.'

'Your crazy you know that? There is no way that me being here will keep him from finding the key to Gelderesh. What does that even mean anyways. If I stay here he won't find it?' I replied.

'Youll know someday.' Salashida assured me.

Sigh. I was at the ice cream parlor working my afternoon shift.

'My shift ends in eight minuets Salashida. After that we are going to the training Trunda in Faltinra. Ok?' I informed him.

'Absolutely!' Salashida said with a bit too much enthusiasm. 'It'll be good to go see the training instructors for a while. Maybe Siralanda will be there.'

'Ha. There is no way you can possibly have your sights set for Siralanda. She is way out of your league! I mean come on! She is the daughter of a Tresule! There is just no way. I mean she is royalty for Pete's sake!' I said

'She may be royalty but it makes no difference to me or to the other tribes. Unlike you, I am allowed to go after whoever. No matter their title.' he retorted

'Even you know that common Taljera are forbidden from Tresules and their heirs as well. The only way you could have a chance is if she has an interest in you. And I highly doubt that.' I said as I smirked.

"Hay boss! My shift is over, may I go now?" I yelled across the little building.

"Yeah, go ahead" he told me.

"Ok thanks!"

'Lets go Salashida.'

Salashida got up from where he was sitting and stretched. He was invisible to everyone but me. And, if you were to step on him, your foot would go through. He was invisible and untouchable at the moment.

'So? Are you ready for a good long training sesion with Vorsheen? I asked Salashida as we left the parlor.

'Hmm. I don't know about you, but I dislike his methodes immensely.'

'Only because he actually makes you work.' I said as we rounded to the side where the parking lot was.

When we were safely hidden behind the dumpster, I mounted Salashida's back and we took off towards the corn fields on the outskirts of town.

After we entered the training Trundal I immediately recognized Siralanda standing besides the instructor as they watched an ongoing battle in the training arena. As soon as she heard us land she turned to face us and came to greet us.

"Greetings Salashida. Jeremy. What brings you here to the Trudal? If I am correct, you have finished your training here." she said.

"We have, but we wish to improve and we are here for not only that, but as well as for the clarity in thought which we experience while training." I informed her.

"Ah yes. I seem to recall one of you mentioning that. Will you be staying for a few days?"

"Yes." Salashida said before I could respond.

"I assume you would like to acomadate your usual quarters?" she asked.

Again, before I could reply, Salashida answered for me. "As always"

Siralanda began to lead the way to our quarters as was reqirement. As we followed Salashida sped up a little so he was walking besides Siralanda and not behind her. I noticed the ruby on her skull suddenly glow faintly but it was so sudden, and ended so quickly, that I thought I had imagined it.

I stayed behind the two of them not wanting to interrupt their conversation.

We were soon approaching our private quarters when suddenly the ruby on Siralanda's head glowed brightly. She quickly turned to me and informed me of the procedures and regulations as was the custom, before turning and dashing towards her own private quarters.

"What was all that about?" I asked Salashida.

"I have no idea."

We both just stood there staring in the direction she had gone before turning to enter our barracks. We turned in for the night and slept peacefully until morning. That's when the fun began.
