Day 247-271: Hôn

274 29 1

Hôn woke up to a dying fire. The warm ambers gave little light. He had slept in the game the whole night. Calculating what time it was in real life, he had no choice but to disconnect immediately. When he connected back, two days had passed.
He reappeared in front of the fire place and took his time appreciating his hard work before leaving the house and closing the door with the key
As he still had to furnish his home he needed money and materials so went to the Architect Guild and turned in the Architect class quest.

[Class Quest Complete: Become an Architect.
You have designed and Build a house on your own as such the Architect Guild recognizes you as one of its own.
Difficulty: F
Reward: the Architect class]

[You have been proposed to rank up from Artist to Architect
Do you accept the class up?
Yes/No]

"Yes"

[Congratulation, you have ranked up to Architect.]

The clerk explained to him that his new class came new work opportunities and duties such as being able to sell or patent plans and designs for new houses or being put in charge of a site and managing a crew and a project.
Selling a designs to the architect guild meant that he received a large amount of gold in return weather patenting them allowed other players to use the plans for a price. It was not possible to do both one would need to choose.

Immediately Hôn used one of the many drafting tables to draw designs for a log house and log cabin and patented them. He set the price at ten gold the use and five for the Architect guild members. In a spur of the thought moment he also took out the many plans he had made while looking for a land to build on and took the time to enhance the designs before patenting them too.

Following this streak Hôn spent the rest of the week and another three imagining all the houses possible, patenting them as he finished their design. After the houses he designed smithies, wood worker workshops, jeweler workplaces, general stores, tailor shops even farm houses, barns, huts and sheds. Then he made towers, research labs and experimental building for mages, alchemists and other magic related class. Following this came larger buildings such as villas, manors and even a few guild halls.

At some point he even unlocked achievements.

[Congratulation, you have patented ten building designs.
Your reputation has grown.]

[Congratulation, you have patented fifty building designs.
Your reputation has grown exponentially.]

[Congratulation, you have patented a hundred building designs.
Your are now famous among your pears.]

From time to time the clerk told his the designs were already put under another name but that did not stop him as every day he would get better and faster at drawing and designing.

Unknown to Hôn, the more he patented buildings, the more fame and reputation he gathered and the more people recommended his designs to buyers, builders and novice architects. As such, during the three weeks he spent hunched over the drafting tables several dozen houses, workshops and workplaces were constructed using his plans. Considering that Last City was currently expending exponentially money flowed into his account at the bank along with more fame and reputation quickly making him one of the richest players in the game.

Every day after dark Hôn would return to his home and disconenct while laying on the floor. On the two hundredth and sixty-eighth day of the game he decided to upgrade his home.

Second Chance players had several ways of obtaining a house. You could buy it ready or construct it on an available land. If you bought a land you could design it yourself or buy the plans. Then you had to choose the workers and architect in charge. Upgrades were done similarly: you chose the emplacement of the changes in the building structure and chose the workers to do it along with the architect who acted like the chief of staff.
As for the furniture it was simple, you chose what and where you wanted them and payed for them. A quest would them appear on the boards in your name. Crafters would pick the quest, craft the desired item and deliver it to you where they would automatically be paid.

For Hôn, an architect, things were a bit different, he could chose what to do like every one else but he also had the privilege of choosing the crafters.

Opening the construction menu he selected two skylights that he virtually placed above the two extremities of the house and choose among the multiple furniture choices a bed, bed table and drawer for the bed room, a table, workplace and some chairs for the kitchen and a large sofa and a low table for the living room. He finished by choosing the wood worker and three builders that would work on the upgrades and chose himself as the architect in charge.

The next hours were spent directing the builders as they prepared the window seals and installed the glass panels. From time to time a crafter came by to deliver a piece of furniture.

It took three days until the house was furnished. In the mean time Hôn had gone to a tailor and bought carpets and drapes for the bed and napes for the tables. He also bought an old drafting table that he placed upstairs and a new tools and drawing material for his designs.
Along with all this he bought cooking and table ware, A broom and dishrags, book shelves and books on architecture, a few paintings to decorate and two potted plants.

"There, better."

All the money of course came from his patents, he had gone to the bank on several occasions to pick up more, including the upgrades expenditures.

Finally Hôn could log out in a real bed. Granted it was a fur and straw bed but still a bed.
