Once finished with the stairs he started the chimney.
It was meant to be located at the far wall of the cellar. Using cement and small irregular stones he made the main body of the fire place as hight as his hips then continued with the chimney itself using small carved quarried stones and cement.
When the construction reached his head he went back upstairs and sawed out the wooden floor when the chimney would come out. Using a double ladder he had rented he then continued to build the chimney. Once he had reached the ceiling he went back to the ground floor and went on until the conduit went as high as him.
"I need to finish this floor first."
So Hôn took his hammer, nails and planks in hand and for the next two days worked on finishing the cellars ceiling. When he was done he continued placing planks on the floor all the way in between the two houses.
From the street people could see a space between two houses whith the floor being made of wood and stairs going down. It wasn't rare that players came to see what was going on and often Hôn had to chase them off his property. In the end he decided to hire a single mercenary to stand guard and stop trespassing. To put an end to this he would have to build the two missing walls.
So once again Hôn grabbed the quarried stones and started cementing them until the front wall and back wall were done. The front wall of the future house was to be adorned by a stone arch while the back wall had the start of another fire place.
For a week Hôn worked on the front wall, he had to carefully choose the stones he placed so that the outside of the house was pleasant to the eyes and that when he left the place for the entrance door the arch would be regular. Also where the wall joined the front walls of the neighboring houses he placed large stones that slightly came out of the wall.
"When i am richer i will get a sculptor to carve something there."
The back wall took less time to finish but he spent an extra five days working on the fire place.
Both chimney now reached just under where Hôn planed on building his bedroom.
"But first the roof."
Once again Hôn hired workers to carry the heavy logs. With the help of ropes and wheels the group placed the logs and nailed planks between them. After that they distributed straw evenly on it and covered the whole roof with argil tiles.
Of course the logs, straw and tiles had to be bought bringing Hôn's economies to near nothingness.
As they had build it, the workers had left two spaces for the chimney to come out. Hôn exitedly went on the roof and finished the chimneys, buying two litle triangular iron roofs to prevent water from coming in during the rainy season. For pure coquetism he also bought a weather cock and placed on the front of the house's roof.
"Done!"
Hôn went outside the house and looked up.
The facade was well done with the stone arch above the door - at least the one that was planed to be instaled - and the windo-
"The window! I forgot to make a window!!"
Torches and candles were expensive so natural light was a must which made windows essencial.
Taking his plans out Hôn thought on how to catch his mistake best. He needed two windows, one for the ground floor and one for the workplace. That only lead to one solution: skylights.
Looking at his monetary situation, Hôn knew that he would not have enough to buy even one window, so two was impossible. As a result he decided to finish building the door and attic.
To do so he used all the planks he had left and built a second set of stairs going up parallel to the cellar's. The space under the stairs was made into a broom closet or at least it would be when he would have a broom. then he bought more planks with what was left of his money and nailed them in the space between the two chimney.
When he was done he had some planks and nails left. He brought them to a wood worker and exchanged them, the left over nails and the last bit of his money for a door with a lock and installed it as the sun set.
When finally the door was fixed a chime rang in Hôn's head and a system window appeared.
[Congratulation, you have build a house!
Please set a name.]
Thinking for a while Hôn decided on naming his first house "Hôn's Home". It was simple but adequate.
[Hôn's Home:
Type: house
Size: cellar (5x5), ground floor (5x12), and attic (5x5)
Quality: 6/10
Durability: 200/200
Description: a small and quaint house with a cellar and chimney and an attic. It is large enough for two people to live in it.
Built by Hôn (97%).
Upgrades are possible.]
It had taken more than three months to build it but it was done. Hôn stayed outside, watching the house from the other side of the street with marvel in his eyes.
"I did it... I DID IT!"
Fists raised to the sky he shouted. Snickers and whispers brought him back to realty and he calmed down. Using a thick iron key to open the door, he went in the house.
In front if him was a large open space, then a stone pillar , the cellar's chimney, with stairs going down on the left and another set going up on the right obstructed his view.. Behind the chimney another open space with a fire place awaited him.
It lacked the bare minimum of furniture and decorations but Hôn was out of money and those cost more than the materials themselves.
Exausted physicaly and mentally after all this work, Hôn set a fire on, grilled some left over meat and fell asleep right after dinner. It was his first night in his new home.
