I was currently staying at a small rented home near Bre, and that’s when I heard a knock at the door.
Knock, knock, knock
‘Who could that be? No one knows who I am here!’ I thought to myself as I got up from my desk and my drawing, of a cardinal that had been sitting outside my window every morning.
I slowly opened the door with my eyes cast down, and I answered skittishly. “Good morning how may I…” that’s when I looked up and I couldn’t believe who I was looking at! “Gandalf?”
“Hello my dear Scarlet!” He smiled.
“Please come in!” I gestured beaconing him inside. “Would you like something to drink?” I asked after he sat down at the table next to my desk.
“No thank you. I actually came here to ask you something!” He said picking up my drawing. “Did you do this?”
“That… ah… yeah. It’s not that good, but it’s a working progress. It’s almost done I just have to touch up the shading that spot right there...” I replied pointing to the middle of the wing.
“Really? I thought it was done! It looks amazing the way it is! I didn’t know you liked doing stuff like this!” He replied looking over it once more with a smile.
“Well I guess it was something I picked up on, when I wanted to make my own type of bow and my one of a kind sword!” I said sitting down at my desk next to Gandalf.
“You made your own weapons? Well I guess I chose the right girl for this adventure!” He said putting the piece of paper down, and turning towards me.
“An adventure?” I asked tilting my head to the side in confusion.
“Yes! Do you know a Hobbit by the name Bilbo Baggins?” He asked.
“Most defiantly, he’s been a really good friend of mine! He took me in after I had been attacked by an Orc pack a long time ago, and ever since then I’ve been visiting him every once and a while when I’d pass through! What does he have to do with what you’re talking about? He’s a Hobbit he would never leave his home!” I asked a little confused.
“ That’s why I’ll ask him so he thinks he has a say, and then the dwarves will just show up!” He smiled.
“Oh Gandalf!” I chuckled.
“Well I best be off to The Shire!” Gandalf stood up and walked over to the door to head out. “Oh and when You get to Bilbo’s, if you get there before the others don’t say anything and act surprised! Which maybe you might be! You might even find someone with in the company that you like well enough!” Gandalf said winking at me with a smirk on his face.
“Gandalf, you and I both know that I will never be that lucky!” I chuckled, but Gandalf knew something I didn’t because he didn’t even smile. He kind of looked a little saddened by my comment.
“We will see Scarlet! Anyway see you at Bilbo’s when I get there. I have some other things to attend to tomorrow morning! Bye Scarlet!” And with that he walked out of the door.
“Bye Gandalf!” I replied to his retreating form down the stone path.
Time-Skip – The Next Morning
I left the house that I was temporarily staying in, and brought everything I had with me to Bilbo’s! I finally made it to The Shire, but I felt hesitant about going. What if I do fall for someone that I meet in this company? What if thy find out what I am? What will they think of me if they do find out? All these questions ran through my head, as I got closer to Bilbo’s home.
I managed to keep walking through the grass to get to his home, but I was distracted by all these questions flourishing in my mind all at once. I stumbled into the housing area of the hobbits, and I honestly didn’t know what to expect out of this whole occasion. I don’t want to be a disappointment to anyone anymore.
