Soon after all the other dwarves had stumbled into Bilbo’s Hobbit Hole Fili had introduced Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Oin, Gloin, Ori, Nori, and Dori to me. Fili also introduced me to them after they all looked at me with confused looks, because I was the only woman in the Hobbit Hole.

Ori came up next to me by the fire and shifted nervously, “Excuse me Miss, but Kili told me you like to draw.” He commented.

“Yeah I suppose you could say that! Would you like to see them?” I asked slightly turning towards him. The light from the fire made his eyes look a light shade of Ember.

“May I?” He asked shyly casting his eyes downward, but slowly looking up at me with a cute little puppy dog look.

“Of course Ori!” I replied slowly reaching for my book with all my drawing in it. “Here!” And with that I handed it to him, when I did so his eyes grew wide like he was getting his first birthday gift as a child! The look in his eyes was something I have only seen when it came to my mother praising my brother after he did something well. That was a long time ago, ever since then I have been on my own.

I shook the bad memories out of my head, and thankfully he didn’t notice because he was so mesmerized by the sketches in that little meaningless book.

“Scarlet these are beautiful! You have a lot of feeling and soul put into these don’t you?!” He stated pausing at the last drawing I had done a while ago now. “Is this a Protector Dragon?” He asked running his thumb along the side of the page.

“Yes it is, how did you know?” I asked curiously.

“I’ve read about them, but whenever there was a picture in any of the books they were always different! But for some reason this one sparks something, but I cant quite remember from where.” He replied taking another look at it before shutting the book carefully and handing it back to me safely like it was treasure that had to be protected. “They are very beautifully drawn!” He added.

“Well thank you Ori!” I said hugging him softly making him blush a little from the sudden change. All I could do was chuckle, and walk over to where Bilbo was standing looking at all the dwarves taking food from his pantry.

“Scarlet!” The dwarf with the winged hat called out from another room. When I turned around to look in his direction he was walking up beside me.

“It’s Bofur right?” I asked hoping I didn’t offend him.

“That’s right lassie! I have a small question for ya.” He said.

“What is it?” I asked moving into a room that was isolated from all the noise.

“ I wanted to know if everyone is treating you alright?” He asked concerned about whether or not the dwarves were treating me well.

“What do you mean? I’m afraid I don’t understand.” I retorted a little confused.

“Well where we come from we treat woman like treasure, because they are. Most of us had to leave our families, and I think it would be good for some of them to have some guidance from you!” He replied with a soft smile.
