"Extra Homework!" Mrs. Haynes yelled over the roar of hyper seven-year-olds.

That got the crowds attention.

"Unless you do want more reading assignments I do suggest you stop." Mrs. Wilson explained commandingly.

Talent show day for the second grade had begun and many of my peers were restless to see who was brave enough to sign up. I stared at the celling, wishing that we had recess instead of the talent show.

"Guys, look over here!" Richard squealed.

The students shuffled in a large clump to get a sight of a line of students about to show of their skills. My question was, did any of us have skills? We were really young, and even at that age I knew what children my age were capable of. My only skill was science, and that wouldn't be very entertaining.

"Class I present to you the second year students of the annual Mc. Milligan Elementary Talent Show!" Mrs. Haynes exclaimed.

Most of the show was immensely dull to me, just little Girls singing songs from an album called Disney's top Princess songs. Yet one person caught my eye, Mark Preston was the only boy in the line. It was very strange considering he is infamous for his constant stuttering and shaking.

"Mark Preston." Mrs. Haynes announced.

His named echoed across the gym before an laughter erupted and rippled through the students. Mark climbed the stairs stumbling, and muttering to himself. He reached the microphone.

"Hello.. I.. I... am.. Um..uh"

The crowed roared before he could finish.

"I..I..I!" Richard mocked holding one finger up, pretending to be confused.

The crowed laughter harder and harder.

"Please stop, let him finish." I said.

My voice was a soft chirp of a bird in a stampede of elephants. They went on with taunts and teases. Finally Mark turned and ran, pushing open the door, and for a glimpse I saw a single tear run down his face.

My mother explained to me that he would be found soon; a huge fat lie. Years later mark had not been found alive or dead. He had been the talk of the town for weeks, until we all accepted he was dead. Not one sign of him had been seen. I did not understand, but I knew one thing Mark was not coming back. That was until I saw him with my own eyes.
