au: k so this past year has been an entire shit show where i have gotten my heart broken twice but its all gucci bc im back and only dealing with fanfic boys not real ones bc thEY ALL SUCK. lol im good i promise. anyway, here lies the second part of the party that has taken me a year to actually write ;)) enjoy.Rosie
Three red solo cups filled with cheap beer later and I was down for the count. I hate being a lightweight, I should really build up my tolerance. Hell, I should have by now with all of the partying I've done. My first party experience was during my sophomore year, and all I can remember was the intense smell of cheap liquor and vomit. I must have gotten pretty lit for a newbie. I am not the take-your-top-off or sleep-with-any-guy-you-encounter type of drunk thank god, I am more of the crazy-dancing-idiot type of drunk. And I will grind on just about everyone. I kid you not.
It was nearing midnight, well at least I think it was, and everyone was either making out, playing a common drinking game, or dancing, and my girls and I were dancing in what seemed to be the living room along with tons of other sweaty teens. My friend group was an inch on the wild side, and thank the lord and all of his saviors for Izzy to reel us back in when we would get too crazy. We were dancing along to the t.v which blasted out the current hits from MTV's music channel. I hate Caroline, but I have to admit that this is a pretty sick party. I was whipping my hair back and forth to the beat of the music until I noticed two figures standing near the front door watching me intently. I stopped dancing and tapped Mel's shoulder since her and I were dancing back to back and she couldn't see me, and then she turned around to face me.
"Mel, there's two guys over there and they're staring," I pointed over to them, a little creeped out.
Melanie just laughed. "Babe, that's Luke and Mike. Damn, you are drunk," she shook her hand, still laughing and grabbing my hand to lead me off of the makeshift dance floor, and over to them. Even my drunk mind is screaming that seeing Luke at the moment is not the greatest idea. I swallowed back my nerves as we approached them.
"Hey Mike," Mel greeted, smiling at the boy with raven black hair. I remember her telling me a couple months back how much she had the hots for him, and judging by the way he looks at her, anyone could tell that he reciprocated those feelings.
Michael grinned at her. "Hey Melanie, it's been a while. You look stunning," he complimented. Oh my lord, I bet she was melting inside right now.
I just started abruptly laughing, and everyone looked at me to see what my deal was. "Oh, sorry," I hiccuped, still giggling. They were just too darn cute.
Luke then decided to pipe up into our conversation, "It's almost midnight, and you know how my mum gets about curfews." he stated blankly while checking his watch.
Mel nodded, "okay I'll go get the girls. Be right back." she turned around and started hunting for Izzy and Lily. When she was out of ear shot I looked over to Mike and mocked him. "Hey Melanie, it's been a while..... You look stunning!" I gushed in a deep voice, wiggling my eyebrows at him. He lightly pushed me away in annoyance, muttering a faint 'shut up' while rolling his eyes.
I just simply waved him off, "You know you love me."
"Unfortunately," he grumbled while I laughed at him.
Once Mel retrieved the two blondes from the living room, I threw the remaining stale liquid in my cup away and we were about to exit through Caroline's rather obnoxiously large front doors before the beloved host decided to make an appearance herself. "Leaving so soon? The party has only started." she stated, and even with my back turned, I could tell she was giving off her signature annoying smirk. Lily and I looked at each other while rolling our eyes, the last thing we wanted was to talk to this bitch. We all turned around and Izzy gave off a fake smile and spoke for the six of us.
"Yeah, we have curfews." she stated simply.
Caroline's eyes scanned through each one of us until she stopped on Luke. "It's nice to see you again Hemmings," she grinned. She totally liked Luke. She always has, starting from freshman year. Who could blame her though? Luke was absolutely gorgeous. When he was in school, every girl was attracted to him.
I could tell he felt awkward as he gulped and muttered, "yeah you too."
Lily rolled her eyes again, "Okay I bet Luke would love to stay and have you rub your Jersey Shore fake tan all over him, but we gotta go." she cut right to the chase, grabbed Luke's arm and my own and led us out of the house.
It was nearing one o'clock when we all arrived to the Hemmings' household. We had already dropped off Mel and Izzy to their own homes - Michael was pretty reluctant to say goodbye to my dear Melanie - but we had finally managed to get the kid to let her exit Luke's vehicle. Luke did his best to open the front door as quietly as he could without waking up his mother, and we all crept into the house. Luke and Michael went to Luke's bedroom while Lily and I settled in her bedroom across the hall. Lily stepped out her platforms, muttering a 'thank god', relieved to have finally taken the five inch heels off. I did the same and we both changed into a pair of pajamas before passing out on her bed while watching reruns of The Simpsons on her small flat screen. I soon regain consciousness due to a powerful headache and I rolled to the side to gaze at Lily's alarm clock which read two a.m. I huffed in pain, throwing the covers off carefully to avoid waking Lily up- although that girl could sleep through a category five tornado- and I walked downstairs to the illuminated kitchen. Why are the lights on?
I then heard the faint sound of Peter's voice from Family Guy while noticing a blonde quiff poking out above the couch. Why was Luke still up? I tried to be as quiet as I could, not wanting Luke to notice my presence, as I slowly opened the fridge in order to grab the Brita filtered water. I opted on no ice cubes, since the ice machine would cause a loud noise that would definitely grab his attention. But unfortunately, I did not succeed in my plan to avoid the kid because as soon as I turned around, I locked stares with the blue eyed boy himself, which startled me, and also made me drop the cup of water in the process. Thank god it wasn't a glass cup.
The plastic cup hit the tile floor, causing the water to drench my bare feet. "Shit," I muttered faintly. "Sorry, you scared me" I faked a smile. There was a sudden obvious awkward tension between us that I wasn't very comfortable in.
"My bad Rosie, I didn't mean to scare you." he laughed.
I bent down to pick up the cup while he retrieved paper towels to clean up the mess. He handed me some as we both rubbed at the floor to soak up the water with our paper towels in silence. I desperately wanted to say something, but my mind couldn't think of anything. We threw away our now completely wet paper towels and he turned away to reside himself back on the couch, I finally grew the balls to speak up, "Luke, wait."
He spun over on his heels, locking eyes with me again. Damn, those baby blues of his get me every time. "Look, we have been really awkward lately and I was wondering if things could go back to the way they were before you left." I stated in one breath.
He glanced down to the floor for a brief moment, then looked back at me gain before smirking, "Before I left or before our last game of Mario Kart?" he raised his brows.
I awkwardly laughed, "Before Mario Kart would be great actually."
"Sure," he gave a sincere smile, "On one condition." the smirk returned.
I playfully rolled my eyes, "What is it?" Shit, is he gonna demand me to kiss him or something?
"We must play Mario Kart together at least three times a week."
"Ah, bringing back traditions are we?" now it was my turn to smirk.
"Indeed." he grinned.
I'm so glad things were back to normal. Well for now, at least.
