Chapter Four: The Basketball Competition

We got to the basketball courts and we picked our teams. We decided to play boys vs girls and Katie, Naomi, Camille and V decided to sit out and keep scores. So Jo, Lucy, Alexa and I were a team and Kendall, James, Carlos, and Logan were a team. We played a full court game. Katie threw the ball in the air and it was bad because the guys got it and they started running to make the basket.

We all got really competitive and I blocked them. James was the one who had the ball and I couldn't really block him because is too tall. So I had to jump to get the ball out of his hand but it was late because he had already tried to make it in the basket. The ball kept swirling around and I was pretty sure he would make it.

In my mind I kept saying "don't make it, don't make it." The basketball hit the corner of the basket and Jo got it. I moved farther so she could pass it to me because they were all trying to take the ball from her. So I got the ball and I ran as fast as I could and by the time the guys ran to me I had already made the shot.

Katie called out,"One to zero." The guys seemed disappointed. We had to take out the ball. Alexa decided she wanted to take it out so then she passed it to Lucy because she was closer to the basket, but out of nowhere Kendall had blocked her and taken the ball. We all ran after him. He passed it to Logan and Logan passed it to Carlos and he made it.

"One to one," said Katie. The guys cheered for catching up to us.

After about 20 minutes we were still tied and then we were all sweating and it got really hot. The round we decided that was after the break would be the last one. So the last one was the tie breaker. So we were tied at 28 to 28 and this last round, we beat the guys. We all cheered in victory. The guys seemed a bit sad, but they congratulated us and said good game.

With that, we took a little break and ate a snack and drank more water. Then afterwards, the competitions started to heat up.
