They used to ask
Wiggling their eyebrows.
"Why not him?"
I used to narrow my eyes
And look straight at them
A challenge in my gaze
And they backed off.
Did I never ask myself
The same question?
Why him?
Yes, I did
Many a times
Every day
Every night
Every time
Did I find an answer?
No, I never needed one.
Because if I answer the why
I'll put a reason to love
When love is unreasonable
Because if I answer the why
I'll put a value to things
Which are invaluable
And what if someday
These reasons don't exist?
Does love cease to exist then?
NO
Then why we do put a value?
Then why do we ask a 'why'?
Then why should we compare
Instead we should just try
Try to keep what we have
Try to make each today work
Try to stay in a tomorrow
And walk one day at a time
We don't set goals
We don't set expectations
We love without reasons
Is it blind love?
NO
Love sees
Love notices
Love appreciates
But love doesn't put a value
Love doesn't demand
Love accepts
And so why him?
Cause it's him
That's why it's him.
That's the only reason why
It's him.
