We were gone. I was driving Ryan's car, following all of the guys who were on their motorcycles. I had no idea where we were going. I was nervous. I didn't want to get in trouble with the police, and I totally did not want to be homeless. I've seen movies and read books about homeless people...I couldn't be homeless.
My phone started ringing. The sound of Ryan's favorite band started playing. I answered it, keeping my eyes on the road.
"Yeah?," I asked.
"We're going to take a stop for gas up here babe, okay?" His voice sounded tired and I wanted to just arrive to our location and go to sleep. It was hard driving at night. I hated driving at night, I could barely see.
"Okay. How much longer until we can stop driving?," I asked with a sigh.
"We're almost there Kenzie," he said.
Then I saw the four motorcycles turn into a green lit gas station with about two cars filling up their tanks. I parked in the parking spaces that were in front of the doors and turned off the car. I opened my door and was greeted by Ryan who was walking towards me.
"I want to sleep already," I sighed burrying my head in his chest. He wrapped his long arms around me and kissed my hair.
My body went limp, he was practically carrying me now. My eyes closed and we just stayed there swaying from side to side. It was pretty cold outside now that it's late, so my breath was visible when I breathed in and out. He had his head nuzzled inside of my neck, so his breath was hot against my skin.
"Ryan, we need to go," Noah whispered. Ryan sighed and lifted me in his arms.
"She's practically sleeping, she can't drive anymore."
"Your the one that suggested bringing every vehicle," Max complained swinging his leg over his motorcycle.
"You know what Max?," Ryan shouted. "Shut up."
Max put his hands up in defense. "Just saying."
"Let's pull into a motel," Devon suggested. "There's one about five minutes from here."
"Can you drive for a little longer babe?," Ryan asked me quietly. I shrugged and opened my eyes.
"Yeah I can drive for a little longer."
"Okay, let's go runaways," Max said clasping his hands together and giving me a small grin. I shook my head and went inside of the car. I put the key in the ignition and pulled out of the gas station. They drove about a half mile before pulling into a one-story motel and parking in the back.
"Okay," Ryan said opening my car door. "I'll carry you inside."
I stood up and wrapped my legs around his torso and my arms around his neck. He was warm, and smelled like smoke. I couldn't yell at him right now, I was too tired. I thought he quite that...I'd figure it out tomorrow. He walked us both inside, holding the door open for the Max, Noah, and Devon that were tiredly dragging their feet.
We walked inside of the room we were all cramming into and flopped down wherever it looked comfy. I got the bed, which was shared with Ryan. Noah got the pull out couch and shared that with Max, and Devon slept on the carpeted living room floor.
