They didn't get a lot of sleep. What with the instruction they had on fixing the cabinet Astrid and Malfoy spent long nights working on it, trying to get the things finished as fast as possible. The last few days were probably the most exhausted Astrid had been in a while, and she knew her task partner felt the same. So tired the lad had even laughed once at a lazy joke she had made the moment one of them had accidentally made a dent on the top of the cabinet.
A party was not something either of them had wanted to go to, yet still, it was something both of them had been pushed to attend, even if just for a little bit. Astrid had expected the Saturday evening to be one of relaxation - small drinks and maybe a bit of dancing if she got in the mood for it, though in all honesty, Astrid's plan for the evening had been that of just sitting on the couch with one of her friends and chatting away about nothing in particular.
Malfoy looked to bear a similar mindset too. It wasn't even half an hour into the party when the lad had given up on standing and instead sat on one of the leather couches on the other side of the common room alone, drink in hand, eyes closed and head tilted back against the backrest. Astrid even smiled seeing him so relaxed for once, since most times they spent in the Room of Requirement the platinum-blonde was always somewhat jumpy and anxious, constantly moving to try and get the cabinet working. This was a pleasant change to witness.
"He's so hot."
Astrid also didn't like to see anyone at all disrupt the boy's peace.
With an immediate glare on her face, Astrid turned to look in the direction where the comment had come from. And sure there stood three Hufflepuff girls, whispering to one another and looking to the other side of the common room. A girl with blonde hair held onto the hand of one who had coloured her hair a pastel-purple. A brunette with makeup better than Astrid could ever imagine doing herself had her body turned towards them and her back to Malfoy, yet she looked to be the one most excitedly glancing back at him.
"He's much quieter this year," one of them laughed with a smile. "Gives him this mysterious aura..."
"I think you should try and talk to him."
The hell she should not!
"Yeah, he's been with both Parkinson and Ninomae. I've heard the both of them are super freaky... I bet he likes it rough."
Pardon? quickly from the look of repulsion that had spread across her face, Astrid plastered on her previous glare. Just try and go tango with my Malfoy...
She inspected the girls carefully and concluded she had seen them in her classes. Meaning they were probably sixth-years. Experienced-sounding sixth-years... And absolutely stunning.
The girls giggled at the blonde's comment and Astrid swallowed uncomfortably. Until one of them looked straight at her, and her eyes widened in horror. The purple-haired girl turned back to whisper to her friends. "Oh, bollocks, I think she heard us."
All as one they turned to look at Astrid and the latter felt the jealousy get the best of her as she tilted her head sideways almost challengeingly. Not letting her insecurity show, Astrid raised her hand and with the two of her fingers motioned for the group to walk over to where she stood. Astrid had only come to fix herself a drink yet this was what she had come to encounter.
The blonde shook her head at her friend, but the brunette had already begun walking over. She was shorter than Astrid too, the stunning brunette would've looked intimidating if only her height didn't make her look like an angry hamster. Astrid tried to rack her brain to remember if Malfoy had ever fancied short girls. Pansy was shortish, but he hadn't actually even liked her....
