I looked down to where she was looking. There was a white dog with black spots. It was just sitting there looking up at us, tongue hanging out. It's head was cocked to the side, and just begging to be loved. Punzie must have noticed because she hopped off the truck and knelt down, petting the puppy. The puppy, face full of happiness, rolled on its back as Punzie pet it's stomach. I laughed.
"Thats not what I was talking about, but okay." I hopped down and kneeled. The dog's tongue was sticking out.
"He's adorable! Is he yours?" Her eyes met mine. Apparently I was making a odd face because she said, "You okay?"
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine. It's just I was upstaged by a dog." I said looking down at the dog, one of its ears flopped down. I smiled. It's too cute to stay mad at. "And no, he's not mine."
"Not used to sharing the attention huh?" She said half joking. "He doesn't have a collar." Punzie said, looking at the puppy.
I looked around. There wasn't anyone in sight.
I stood up and stared down at Punzie, petting the dog under his chin. Then for some reason, I blurted out, "Do you want him?"
"Really?" She said.
"Yeah. No one is here and he doesn't have a collar so he must be a stray or something."
"What should we call him?"
I shrugged. "Spots?"
"Too original"
"Uhh. Rover?"
"Nah. That just reminds me of the game Red Rover."
"What's Red Rover?"
Punzie stood up. "Really? What happened to elementary reccess? That was so much fun! We will have to play. For your childhood's sake!" She smiled.
"Sounds like a plan. What about Pascal? Because you like painting right?"
She though for a second. "Yes. Pascal it is!" Punzie frowned. "Would you mind taking him to your house till tomorrow? My mom would kill me if I suddenly brought home a dog. So I will drop the bomb and bring him over the next day. Then she won't kill me and the dog." She laughed. It was light and sweet.
We drove back after a few hours. I dropped off Punzie and made my way home. The day didn't quite go exactly as planned but hey, it was pretty good.
Oh wait. I've got a dog in the back seat drooling a thousand pounds.
"Hey! Stop droppin' your spit everywhere!"
I laughed a little. Even when he was drooling Pascal was cute.
How am I going to explain this to mom? A dog is not exactly what she wants... Meanwhile, Emma will be thrilled. Finally pulling up in the driveway, I made a decision.
Quietly I grabbed Pascal and went over to the side of the house. To the best of my ability while still holding the dog, and placed a ladder against the house. I climbed up onto the slanted roof over to my bedroom window. Thankfully it was unlocked and Pascal was not squirming that much. I stepped inside and shut the door. Letting out a deep breath, I gently placed the dog down.
"Now please be quiet. I will be back. Mom will know somethings up if I don't come through the front door."
Pascal just stared at me.
As fast as I could I climbed back down and casually walked through the front door.
"I'm home! Mom! Where are you? I need to talk to you." I yelled, walking around the house.
Emma walked past me with a can of soda in her hand. "She's in the garden. Now will you quit yelling?"
"Not a chance. MOM!" I patted Emma's head, then she smacked my hand. Sybling love right there.Sorry its been so long! Im just not sure where I want this to go. Tell me some ideas in the comments and I will dedicate a chapter to you if I pick yours! (If I can figure out how to... )
