Summer (On Hold)

Chapter four

I was waiting at the front of the school. I leaned against the flag pole. My girlfriend Toothiana or Tia came up to me. She had a shiny blue, purple, and green dress on. Her brown hair was in a high ponytail. Her eyes oddly were a beautiful shade of purple. No one knew how.

Sometimes she said she was the 'tooth fairy' just to get attention. Nobody believed her but she was the most popular girl in school so no one judged her. That's why she always wore green, blue, and purple.

"Hey Jacky!"

"Hey Tia. Where's the gang?"

"North is in woods doing some extra credit." North's real name is Nathaniel but he likes the name North better. He has a Russian accent and was burly and tall for his age.

"And Sandy is in the science lab doing some research on dreams." Sandy was a short student who loved to learn about dreams and the brain. He had gold hair and hardly ever talked.

"What about Bunny?" I asked. Bunnymund absolutely hated his name and hated it when I called him Bunny. He goes by Bruce. He has light brown hair and always wears grey. He has an Australian accent.

Together we are a gang known as the Guardians. We like to think we are the Guardians of the school. Meaning we rule the school and everyone does what we say.

Tia gave me a smile. "I think he is helping with the Easter project. His mom signed him up."

The Easter project was a community of students who helped celebrate holidays at school. Christmas decorations, New year's, April fools, Easter and so on. They 'enhance' the whole holiday experience for school and make school a more 'fun' place. Its really just the vice principal who loves making students work.

It's called the Easter project because Easter is a big deal at Season High. We celebrate four holidays to represent each season. Christmas for winter. Easter for spring. Halloween for fall. Last day of school for summer because we obviously don't have school in summer.

Its October and everyone in the Easter project is preparing for the fall celebration. Also known as a Halloween dance. It's only the sixth but whatever.

"So I have to go and talk to the oral care teacher. I will talk to you later!" She kissed me on the cheek and went inside. Tia wants to be a dentist.

I looked over heads trying to see a blonde one. Ha! There she is! I pushed through the crowd and shoved smaller students. Scared little freshman nerds.

Rapunzel started walking down the street then turned the corner. I finally caught up with her and grabbed her arm.

She turned and scowled at me.

"What do you want?" She jerked her arm away.

I gave her my traditional smirk.

"Stop that."

"Stop what?" I laughed.

"That!" She pointed to my face."that smirk you always do to get your way!"

I laughed again.

She started to walk away. "Rapunzel!" I yelled.

Rapunzel stopped abruptly.

"Great job. You figured out my name." She said plainly. All of the sudden, she turned and strode to me with a puzzled/angry look on her face.

"Why?"

"What?" I replied.

"Why did you need to know my name?"

"I....uh... I just...um"

"What?!"

"I just wanted to... uh... I need a tutor." I looked down at my shoes trying to hide the embarrassment.

"You need a tutor? What? Did you not have time to squeeze in both popularity and math?" She tried to surpress a laugh.

"Can you help me or not?" I said getting angry.

"Sure I guess." She replied.

"Ok. Meet me at my house on Friday after school."

"Where do you live?"

"You don't know where I live? Everyone knows where I live!"

"Obviously not."

She gave me her number and I texted her the address.

"Oh and don't tell anyone about this whole tutor thing ok?"

"Right. Wouldn't want to ruin your reputation." We laughed.

"I'll..uh.. see ya around Punzie."

"Punzie?"

"Yeah. I can call you Rapunzel if you want.

I uh just thought-" I babbled.

"I like it." She interrupted.

I smiled.

"Bye Jack."

"Bye Punzie."

I walked home smiling the whole way.
