Evelyn woke up suddenly in a panic. "What time is it Frankie??" She whispered.

No reply. "Frankie?" She reached across the bed to find it empty, except for a piece of paper on top of his pillow. She flicked the light on and sat up. It was a note.

Sorry babe, didn't wanna wake ya. You looked so peaceful. Just heading to meet up with Jim. Be back soon.
Frankie.

"How romantic." She said to herself. Grabbing her phone to call Violet she spotted the time. "11pm?! I slept all day!!" She decided it was too late to call her friend, she was probably jet lagged, she text her instead.

Hey hun! So sorry I never contacted you today, I fell asleep and just woke up now. Must've been exhausted..hope you get loads of sleep coz tomo I have plans for us :) love ya xxx

All of a sudden her stomach growls, realising she hasn't eaten anything today she heads to the kitchen. Feeling lazy, she grabs a bowl and a box of weetos from the cupboard, pours almost the whole carton of milk on top and devours it. Just as she's finishing the washing up she hears a noise outside.

Clunk clunk scrape "aaah dammit!!"

She rushes to the window and sees her boyfriend, stuck head first in the shrubs. If this wasn't a regular occurrence she would find it funny.

Not willing to deal with him in that state she jogs up the stairs and settles herself into the guest bedroom and locks the door. As she doses off to sleep he hears him falling over at least a dozen times. "I love my life...not."

-----

Evelyn had managed to completely avoid her drunken boyfriend for the whole night and snuck out the following morning to meet with Violet.

She was excited to see her reaction when she knew what she had planned for them. I'm such a good friend. She smiled to herself.

She pulled up outside her friends house and skipped to the door. As she tapped the doorbell she looked around, catching a glimpse of her dark grey BMW. It had taken her three years to save up for that beauty and she had neglected it. She really needed to give it a wash...later. Just then, the door swung open and she felt a familiar embrace.

"Good morning Vie. Have a good sleep?" She said as she noticed what her friend was wearing. She would never be shocked, but this was maybe a little too out there for what she had planned. Violet was wearing a bright orange play suit, lime green kimono, polka dot socks and silver flats.

Surprisingly she hadn't changed her hair drastically and wore it down, in lose curls with her bangs clipped to the side. She looked beautiful all the time, but too childish for today, so she had the idea of shopping first.

----

Arm in arm, they wandered around their favourite store from when they were in high school.

"Anything in particular you're buying for?" She asked Evelyn. "Just looking for a nice dress, all my clothes seem a bit too casual and I think we should dress up tonight and hit the town." She smiled. With that, the two separated and said they'd meet up in the dressing room in half an hour.

Evelyn picked one dress for herself, but everything else she had was for Violet. Spotting her friend, she hung everything up on a rail inside the changing room curtain.

"I only found one thing I would wear, but loads I think you would look amazeballs in Vie!" She smirked.

Her friend looked a bit suspicious, but looked through everything anyway. Her eyes lit up when she saw one dress. "This is beautiful! This is my dream dress! I can't believe you found it!" Squealed Violet. She definitely looked like a kid now, jumping up and down. Evelyn chuckled to herself. "Go on, try it on."

Five minutes later there was still no sign of Violet coming out. "Vie?" She called. "Is everything ok?" Standing up, she walked over towards the curtain and peeked in. She gasped. "Oh my God! It's amazing on you, I knew it would be! How come you didn't come out to show me?" And that's when she noticed her friend was crying.

She rushed over to her side and pulled her into a bear hug. "What's wrong? Do you not like it?"
"It's not that, I've just never felt more like a woman in my life. Everyone judges me because of what I wear and call me childish, but no one will when I wear this dress." She sobbed. "I just wish I could wear it anytime, it's so fancy it'll have to be kept up for a special occasion."

"Pfft. Who cares if it's fancy, we're fancy people." Evelyn giggled. "Wear it now, I'll wear a dress too."

It really did look amazing. It was a beautiful black lace, floor length maxi dress. Long fitted sleeves, plunging neckline and a slit up to her thigh. This was the perfect dress for her. She looked so elegant yet sexy at the same time.

"It's a good job I don't have boobs." She giggled. "Or it would go from class to trash!"
