When I finally emerged from the well needed cold shower, Violet had laid out an outfit for me on the bed. Too lazy to argue I just got dressed.

Throwing on the white over sized tee and tucked it into the red plaid pencil skirt, rolling my eyes at the heels she expected me to wear and opted for my white cons.

Scraping my hair up into a messy bun I applied a lick of mascara and some lipgloss. No one could call me high maintenance.

But then there's Frankie.

He always seemed to find something wrong with the way I looked and insisted on me doing more than what I wanted. Lately I had had enough of his attitude and given up on trying to please any man, let alone him.

From now on I'd only do what I wanted and look how I wanted to look. That probably explains why he's been staying out late and drinking so much. I don't really care if I'm honest.

I have already decided that as soon as I get home I was ending things. Not that we were ever in a serious relationship, I just want to have fun for once, and James was looking like the kind of fun I wanted to have.

-----

We spent the rest of the day distracting ourselves by playing endless board games. We were knee deep in an intense game of scrabble.

"Hey!" Violet huffed, "that's not a word!"

"Yes it is!" Mark smirked.

"No it's not!" She looked at me pleading with her eyes and I put my hands up an shrugged my shoulders.

"Don't ask me." I replied, "I'm not a bookworm like you two. I have street smarts." I smiled proudly, which got me an eye roll in response.

"Bestest is not a word Mark!" She exclaimed. I knew she was right but I also knew he was just teasing her.

I looked at my two best friends and basked in a warm glow, I missed this. We always had so much fun together. It didn't matter what we were doing. We could have been watching the most boring documentary and it would be fun, they always made my life fun.

"What's up with you?" Mark prodded, pulling me out of my thoughts. "You have a stupid grin on your face."

"Sorry for being happy." I said sarcastically, which earned me another eye roll. Suddenly, Marks stomach rumbled. "Pizza?" I suggested.

"Pizza!" They both shouted.

----

After a petty argument about what toppings we should get, we decided on margarita.

It wasn't long before it arrived, we had decided on a dvd and settled down to watch 'Harry Potter' for the hundredth time from start to finish.

"Why did Ron and Hermione take so long to get together?!" Violet moaned. She had talked the whole way through the first five films. You'd swear she hadn't seen any of them before.

"I knew from the start that they would end up together." Mark mumbled, "they're perfect for each other."

When I looked up he was staring at Violet with so much love, I'm surprised she couldn't feel it burn into her skin. He noticed me looking and nervously excused himself.

When I was sure he was out of ear shot I scooted closer to Violet and gave her a knowing look.

"What?"

"You know exactly what."

"He's not interested in me like that Evie so just drop it." She was so oblivious.

"Fine, but I won't hesitate to say I told you so when you finally come to your senses." I hiss as I throw myself back across the sofa.

I need a plan and fast.

Just as Mark steps back into the room, I loudly announce, "I need to go to the store!" and so they don't argue I finish with, "I need tampons!"

Knowing Violet wouldn't be interested in coming unless I was clothes shopping and Mark would be too mortified to be seen near the ladies monthlies aisle.

"I won't be too long, feel free to watch the rest of the film without me."

I.am.awesome.
