I stood before the large building of Hope's Peak Academy. Only the absolute best of the absolute best get invited here. Yes, invited; you don't seek them; they find you, and ONLY if they deem you worthy.
I've been analyzing people since I was old enough to talk, listening to people talk and trying to understand their actions. By the age of ten, I was helping the police interview suspects and determine the correct ones to pursue. And I've never been wrong; every person I've dismissed as a suspect was truly innocent, and every person I suspected of committing the crime in question ended up found guilty. The police wanted to offer me a job, but said I was too young to actually be employed, due to child labor laws, so I just volunteered whenever I was asked to do so.
In addition, I have also helped other students with their problems throughout school, from drug abuse to relationship problems. They said I usually gave very good advice, and if something went wrong, it was usually a mistake of omission. My friends would come to me for advice, and people I barely knew at school would ask me questions as well.
My mom was fine with it all, as long as I was careful not to get myself into any trouble in the process. My dad, when he was still alive, didn't seem to care one way or another what I did, as he spent most of his time either at work or sleeping.
Anyway, enough about my history for now. What's done is done, and reliving it accomplishes nothing useful anymore. I took a deep breath and walked up to the front door of Hope's Peak Academy. A nervous sensation washed over me as I reached for the doorhandle, but I brushed it aside, pulled the door open, and walked in.
I walked into the main hall, a T intersection that went to the left and right, with double doors in front of me. I looked down both hallways, debating which way to...
Next thing I knew, I was face-down, sitting at a desk. I lifted my head up, and it appeared I was in an empty classroom. On the "digital chalkboard" (for lack of better terms) was written the words "Welcome to Hope's Peak Academy!" with a creepy bear-demon...thing...grinning next to it. I got up from my desk and looked around. There were a lot of empty desks, and a single door leading out. On my desk was a black tablet of some sort. I picked it up, and looked at the back of it. There was a logo with "Hope's Peak Academy" written on the back of it. Figuring it had to be important, I put it in the lower left pocket of my cargo shorts.
There was also some sort of security camera and what appeared to be an LCD Monitor in the room, high up. The monitor had a Hope's Peak Academy logo that matched the back of my tablet, and like my tablet, said "Hope's Peak Academy" below it. The security camera, I assumed, was recording or monitoring me in some way, but it was too high up to do anything about it.
Deciding I had enough of the classroom I was in, I decided to try the door, to see if I was locked in. The doorknob turned, and the door opened inward without any issues. The hallway was lit up, but I saw and heard no one. I walked out into the hallway and shut the door behind me. A marker above the door said "Classroom 1-B", implying there was a "Classroom 1-A" somewhere else. Looking to my right, I saw a small sign sticking out of the wall, saying "Classroom 1-C". Seeing nothing else of interest down that way, I turned left, towards a T-intersection.
When I arrived at the intersection, there was a "School Store" and a gated-off stairway to my left, and a "Game Room" and a sign saying "Classroom 1-A" on my right, which disappeared around another corner.
Piquing my interest, I poked my head into the Game Room, and was pleasantly surprised. There was a dartboard along the right side of the room, across the room from a black and white Checkers/Chessboard with pieces for both games. Directly in front of me was a hexagonal poker table, with chips of various colors and a deck of cards at the center. To my left was a pool table and a rack of pool sticks. "Well, if I'm gonna be trapped here, at least I shouldn't get too bored", I thought to myself as I shut the double doors and headed right, towards the corner intersection.
Turning the corner, there was a long hallway ending in another corner intersection, giving me the impression that the wall along my right side must be some sort of large room. Immediately to my left were double doors marked "Gymnasium". I heard faint murmuring coming from there, and figuring there were others inside, I decided to approach the voices cautiously, cracking the door open and peeking inside. I could see a group of people, all dressed differently, conversing with one another. Feeling that none of them were an immediate threat, I decided to enter the room, turning every pair of eyes my way.
I had no idea what was in store for me, or how insane it would be.
