Byakuya showed up a few minutes later, and looked disgusted at the scene. Akane and Hina were dead, and there was vomit on the table and floor near them. Mikan was knelt next to them, softly sobbing, "I'm...sorry..."
Shortly afterwards, Monokuma showed up. "Alright, we've got a two-for-one here. As always, here's the Monokuma File on both victims."
My E-handbook went off, and I opened it up so I could read the Autopsy Report. "The victims are Aoi Asahina and Akane Owari. Cause of death was poisoning. No external injuries noted on either body."
Byakuya looked up from his E-Handbook and glanced at Monokuma. "This really doesn't tell us much. Not even a time of death or location?"
Monokuma replied, "Well, everyone except you watched the two of them die in here, so I figured, what's the point? Not my fault you skipped out!"
Byakuya sneered at Monokuma, but said nothing else. However, Maki asked Peko, "Should we resume our guard duties together?"
Peko nodded, without saying a word, and stood beside Maki.
Maki then looked over at Mikan, "If you need help, let me know. With two victims, if you wish, I can search one and you can check out the other."
Mikan shook her head. "They...they died similarly enough. I think what happened to one, happened to them both. I'm...-"
Maki cut her off. "No need to apologize. I think you're right, anyway."
Byakuya, meanwhile, addressed the rest of us. "Alright, the rest of you, start investigating. We need to find out what poison was used, how it was used, and most importantly, who used it!"
Nodding in agreement, I immediately headed to what I felt was the most important location: the Chemistry Room.
Upon my arrival, I immediately went to the Poisons section of the room. When I came in here with Nagito, everything was fully stocked. Carefully, I searched the poisons, hoping my gut feeling was wrong.
Arsenic...still full. Anthrax...still full. Botulinum...still full. Strychnine...still full. Tetrodotoxin...still full. Mercury...still full.
Potassium Cyanide...oh no. Some of it was missing. Whoever killed Akane and Hina, this was likely what was used. As I recall, Potassium Cyanide can sometimes smell like bitter almonds, so the killer must've not only known that, but used this to their advantage.
Gathering alibis seems to be pointless, as everyone except Byakuya was together in the Dining Hall. Thus, I strongly doubted Byakuya was to blame for this. At this point, I had two main suspects.
Nagito, who accompanied me to the Chemistry Room to look at poisons, and also served the food. He was also looking at me funny as we left the Chemistry Room, and wouldn't say why.
Or Kirumi, who followed me and Nagito out of the Chemistry Room, and also prepared the food.
I decided to find Nagito, and discovered him downstairs, in the Biology Room, looking through a book. Getting Nagito's attention, I decided to ask him some questions.
"What do you know about Potassium Cyanide?"
Nagito thought for a few moments. "Hmmm...I think it's a white powder, bitter smell, and very deadly in small quantities."
Nodding in agreement, I then added, "Some of it is missing in the Chemistry Room."
Nagito's eyes went wide. "Oh, no. Do you think that's what killed those two girls?"
I nodded . "I'm sure of it. Now, a very important question: Did you see anyone take the Potassium Cyanide out of the Chemistry Room?"
Nagito thought for a moment, then shook his head. "Nope, not anybody. Not even you."
I nodded, satisfied with this answer.
Monokuma's alert went off. "Alright, time's up, everyone head to the Courtroom. Meet you at the fountain in the Courtyard!"
We all made our way to the Courtyard, where the fountain dried itself up and revealed its entrance. Everyone walked down into the elevator, which took us down to the Courtroom.
Akane Owari. Aoi Asahina. Two busty, athletic, friendly girls, best of friends here, have now died together. My main suspects, at this point, were Nagito or Kirumi, as they were the only ones to handle the food in any way. Nagito claims it wasn't him, but I didn't get a chance to question Kirumi, nor did I discover how the poison was taken from the Chemistry Room to the Dining Hall. Was the entire bottle taken, or did someone transport the poison in another way?
This Class Trial would take a dark turn, and be saved by the most unlikely person, in the most unlikely way possible...
