Y/n felt a rush of shame washing over her, causing her to avert her gaze, avoiding Chan's now cold and concerned eyes. His expression shifted as he stared at her, his concern evident. "And Y/n is your definitive actress... someone really filthy you can just flip over..."Chan's frown deepened at the remark, his patience waning. He stood up, determined to confront the situation head-on. "Right, that's it." Y/n attempted to stop him, but her efforts were futile as Chan briskly made his way past her.
As Chan approached the table where the four men sat, he observed the scene. Two of them appeared meek, hanging onto the others' every word. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but..." / "Can I help you?" The harsh tone of the man's voice was familiar to Chan, recalling the earlier disrespectful comments about Y/n.
The four men turned their attention towards Chan, their gazes piercing. Despite feeling slightly nervous under their scrutiny, Chan stood his ground. "Well, yes, I couldn't help overhearing your conversation... and I believe the person you're discussing deserves more respect than being objectified."
Chan's attempt at a stern demeanor was undercut by his awkward smile and pleading eyes. "...she's a real person, and she deserves better than being talked about in such a demeaning manner." Feeling a surge of pride for speaking up, Chan was about to continue when one of the men interrupted him, pushing him away dismissively. "Oh, buzz off, mate. Are you her dad or something?"
Chan bristled with anger, ready to retort, but before he could, Y/n suddenly appeared at his side, hiding her face behind his broad shoulder as she pulled him away, unrecognized by the men. As they distanced themselves from the table, Chan whispered his apologies to her. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I appreciate you trying... I wish I had your confidence," Y/n replied, her words echoing in her mind as Chan looked at her with confusion. An evil smirk danced on her lips as she lightly tapped Chan's cheek. "Actually... give me a moment." With that, Y/n confidently strode back to their table.
Her sudden return stunned the room, all eyes on her as she stood where Chan had previously stood, her expression unyielding. "Hi."
"Oh my God..."
"I'm sorry about my friend... he's very sensitive."
"No, look, I'm sorry..."
"Please, please... let's just leave it there. I'm sure you meant no harm, and I'm sure it was just friendly banter. But I must say, your intellect seems to match the size of your brains, perfectly suited for peanuts. Enjoy your meal. The tuna's really good."
As Y/n walks away, the voices of the group hurling insults at the man trailing behind her. Thankfully, even as she reaches the imposing figure of Chan, one particularly colorful insult, "You Prick!" still echoes in the air.
With a sweet smile to the bewildered man, she gracefully guides him out of the restaurant, signaling the continuation of their date.
They stroll together, their shoulders touching, down the arcade of the Ritz Hotel where Y/n is currently staying. "I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have done that," she murmurs, her frown deepening with concern over the potential fallout from her actions.
Chan chuckles, shaking his head in disagreement. "No, you were brilliant." / "I'm impulsive and foolish, and what am I even doing with you?" They pause amidst the crowd, Y/n searching Chan's reliable eyes while he smiles back, his expression warm. "I'm not sure either."
As they reach the end of the arcade, a heavy silence descends upon them, the realization dawning that their time together for the night is drawing to a close. Glancing around, Chan tries to mask his disappointment, while Y/n shifts her gaze between the hotel and her feet. "Do you want to come up?"
Chan feels his heart skip a beat, his breath catching as he meets Y/n's gaze. "T-There are plenty of reasons why I shouldn't." Y/n nods understandingly but persists, "There are indeed. Do you still want to come up?"
Chan's response is wordless, his expression giving away his answer as he chuckles at her persistence, muttering a soft 'cute'. "Give me five minutes."
Counting down the seconds, Chan dashes into the hotel like an eager child. Upon reaching the familiar hotel room door, he pauses to compose himself before knocking. "Hiya." Y/n opens the door, now barefoot, with her hair down and makeup removed. He finds himself falling even more in love with her natural beauty, though he fails to notice the hint of anger in her tone.
"Hi." He kisses her gently on the cheek, trying to soothe her apparent frustration.
"To be able to do that is such a wonderful thing," Y/n interrupts him, her frown deepening as she struggles to express her frustration without hurting him. "You have to leave."
Chan's expression shifts to concern. "Why?"
Y/n sighs, glancing behind her before meeting Chan's gaze. She struggles to find the right words that won't inflict pain. "Because... my boyfriend, who I thought was in America, is actually in the next room."
The word 'boyfriend' leaves her lips with a hint of bitterness, unnoticed by Chan, who is too shocked to fully comprehend. "Your boyfriend?" Y/n attempts to maintain her composure and explain the complicated situation she finds herself in until Jeff, the 'boyfriend', emerges from behind her.
Recognizable as a famous film star, Jeff exudes charm and confidence. Chan's eyes trace the man's impressive physique and handsome features, a stark contrast to his demeanor. As Jeff begins to speak, unbuttoning his shirt casually, Y/n rolls her eyes in exasperation, while Chan's heart sinks with the harsh reality.
Before Y/n can respond, Chan interjects, cutting through the tension.
