Chan left the room, his heart is heavy with disappointment, every step echoing his internal struggle to abandon thoughts of a future with Y/n. His resolve was firm as he approached the exit, prepared to surrender any hope he harbored. However, his departure was halted abruptly by Tarquin's voice resonating through the corridor as he conversed on his mobile phone. Caught mid-stride, Chan turned to face him.
"How was she?" Tarquin inquired, his curiosity evident as he awaited Chan's response.
"Fabulous," Chan replied with a nod, attempting to mask his inner turmoil. Yet, as Tarquin scrutinized him further, suspicion flickered in his gaze. "Wait a minute... she took your grandmother's flowers?"
Caught off guard, Chan struggled to conjure a plausible explanation. "Yes, that's right... Bitch," he blurted out, his mind racing to evade further interrogation. Hastening his retreat, Chan found himself intercepted by Karen, her presence a formidable obstacle.
"If you'd like to come with me, we can rush you through the others," Karen suggested, her tone brisk and businesslike. "The others?" Chan's apprehension mounted, regretting the web of deceit he had spun earlier, now ensnaring him in complexity.
Karen had led Chan into another interview this time, with a new actor from the same film, "Mr Bang's from 'JYPs Entertainment'."
A forty-year-old actor with great presence warmly shakes Chan's hand. "Please meet you. Did you like the film?" Right, let's get this over, and pretend, for now, was what Chan thought and begin his amateur acting as a journalist.
Resigned to his role as an amateur journalist, Chan endeavored to play his part. "Ah... yes, enormously," he replied, mustering a semblance of enthusiasm. "Well, fire away," encouraged, his demeanor inviting further inquiry.
Summoning his waning focus, Chan posed his questions, navigating the interview with growing weariness. As the day wore on, he found himself caught in a monotonous cycle, each interview blending into the next, his enthusiasm waning with each passing minute.
Seated across from a monolingual foreign actor and his interpreter, Chan struggled to maintain his composure. The language barrier added another layer of complexity to the exchange, leaving him feeling increasingly out of his depth.
"Did you identify with the character you were playing?" Chan inquired, his voice tinged with uncertainty. The interpreter relayed the question, to which the foreign actor responded bluntly, "No," citing the character's psychopathic nature.
"Classic," Chan muttered, his attempt at humor falling flat amidst the linguistic hurdles.
His endurance tested to its limits Chan faced an unexpected challenge in the form of an eleven-year-old American girl. Initially optimistic, he soon realized that her youthful exuberance belied a wealth of experience in the film industry.
"Is this your first film?" Chan asked, hoping for a straightforward exchange. "No... it's my 22nd," the girl replied matter-of-factly, leaving Chan momentarily stunned.
As the interviews dragged on, Chan emerged from each encounter increasingly disillusioned. The corridor teemed with camera crews, their presence a constant reminder of his predicament. Yet, there was no respite in sight as Karen appeared once more, ushering him towards yet another interview.
"Mr. Bang?" Karen's voice cut through Chan's weariness, prompting him to steel himself for yet another encounter. "Yes?" Chan responded wearily, his fatigue palpable.
"Have you got a moment?" Karen's question hung in the air, and despite his initial reluctance, Chan found himself compelled to follow her lead.
Together, they approached the familiar doorway of Y/n's room, anticipation mingling with apprehension as they awaited her response. "Come in," Y/n's voice beckoned, signaling the beginning of yet another chapter in Chan's tumultuous day.
