"Shit." I whispered.

It was negative.

"Shit shit shit!" I chanted then started jumping up and down in joy. My period was just late, that was it.

"See? Nothing to be paranoid about." She claimed.

But still. The panicky feeling I felt earlier was enough to give me a heart attack. I swear, I will never ever again let myself feel that way.

"We need to talk." A familiar male voice says and I froze.

My back was to the door but I knew who that was.

"He said he needed to talk to you so I let him in." Emily's voice says.

I look up at Cass who was frozen, the stick mid-air as she stared back at Alexander who I knew was staring daggers behind my back.

"How come I didn't hear the door?" I asked as I tried to remain my cool.

"Oh, I just got home when he came, so we got in together. I'll leave you guys. I still have stuff to do." Emily said and I heard the door close behind her.

"We need to talk." Alexander repeated with clenched teeth.

"I heard you the first time." I said in a sharp tone.

"Uh....." Cass glanced down at the stick she was still holding which apparently Emily didn't notice as I heard her typing on her phone.

"What is the meaning of this?" Alexander growled out.

I finally turned around and looked at him in the eye. "It's nothing we just had a little misunderstanding you see, but it's alright now." I said in a flat tone.

"Would you mind clearing up the messed up call you made. You called me in the middle of an important meeting to ask if I used a condom." He deadpanned.

I cringed. "I'm really sorry. But as you can see, the test is negative right. I was just being paranoid. I'm sorry, you can go back to your meeting now."

I turned back to Cass and shot her a look which she immediately got and went back into the bathroom and I heard the trash clatter as Cass throwed the thing away.

She slipped out of the room without a word and I turned to face Alexander who was staring at me with his jaw clenched.

"No. I'm not leaving. I need an explanation. I was really worried when you hung up on me." He said.

I sighed. "Look my period was just late and I forgot if we used a condom so I got scared and Cass proposed that I used the test. Which was like hell. Because my heart was pounding in my chest. And we both aren't ready for a child."

"Good. But don't scare me like that again." His voice softens and I immediately soften up which was a mistake when I remembered how easily a guy could trick people.

I will not let myself be tricked by one though. His bimbo of a secretary proves just how desperate he is when he is in need of a good lay.

I wonder how he'll just call for her and do a quickie in his office whenever he feels like it.

The thought makes me want to puke and stabs me in the heart the same time.

"Don't act like you care. We both know how desperate you are." I muttered under my breath.

Alexander's face tenses. "What do you mean?"

"What I mean is your slut of a secretary." I panned.

Recognition flashes against his eyes and his lips twitched.

"Oh you mean Ellie." He chuckled. "She's an intern. Nothing you need to worry about."

"I'm not worried." I scoffed. "I mean, it's your choice if you want to have a quickie in between meeting right." I said in a blank voice.

Alexander moves closer and raises his hand to touch my cheek.

"Is my love jealous?" He whispered and my heart skipped a beat. He wouldn't just let that word slide without thinking now would he?

"No." I whispered.

Alexander just tilts his head to the side, then drops his head and brushed his lips against mine.

He kisses me then, more forcefully and carefully slips his tongue in my mouth. He kisses me for a while then pulls away to look me in the eye.

"Don't be jealous. I've only ever been with you since our night."

I shiver.

"How can I know if you're just saying that to get me back on your bed?" I whispered with raised eyebrows.

"You just have to trust me." He grins and I froze. In these moments that he rarely smiles I capture the image in my mind. Because I know that in every real life story these feelings I'm feeling right now won't last forever. He'll move on when he's done with me. But right now I want to live the moment and stay with him a little longer.

He pushes himself back and his hand moves away from my cheek. He straightens his back and grabs my hand and pulls me out my room.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"We are going to the charity gala tonight."

"What gala?" I asked, confused.

"I got invited to a charity gala tonight and you will be my date." He said.

My mouth gapes open.

"No." I said, planting my feet firmly on the ground to keep him away from pulling me any further.

"Yes. And you will come with me for the rest of the day. We are going to look for the perfect dress and I want every single man there to look at you knowing that you can never be theirs because you're already mine."
