It's been two and a half weeks since my last encounter with Alexander.
And my period is late.
"I don't know what to do!" I cried out.
"Okay. Calm down." Cass's not relaxing voice says.
I huff a breath. "What do you want me to do?" I asked exasperatedly.
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'll go do all the work. I'll get you a pregnancy test and suffer the painful embarrassment of doing so. You do know that sometimes there are scolding mothers in pharmacies. I knew someone that-"
I groaned and flopped down the bed. "Please stop talking." I said.
"Okay... I guess the mood swings are coming." She muttered but I heard her nonetheless.
"Just please! I really don't want to have a baby. I'm too young. Please! What would dad say! Not to mention Lily would make me a laughing stock with her friends if she knew. I don't even know if Alexander would want..." I babbled.
"Stop rambling. I'm going go there now and you stay here and just chill." I hear Cass shuffling before the door closes behind her.
I close my eyes and release a huge breath. Calm down. How could I freaking calm down if there was a possibility that I was pregnant?!?
I can't even remember if we used protection or not. Damn it. How could I be so clumsy that in the moment of passion I forgot the one thing that could probably save my life from this huge mess. Damn protection.
Next time... There won't be a next time, I reminded myself.
The baby could be the least of my worries. The big picture was Alexander. Alexander Shaw who ran an empire. He who might've managed to impregnate a bakery waitress. How cliche.
I feel sorry for myself.
It would be too late if I called him now and asked him if he used protection, I thought dryly.
Shit. That's it! I could go to his office right now and ask him one simple question.
'Did you use protection?'
Damn right. I would just make a fool of myself. Imagine a loser of a nobody talking to Alexander Shaw and asking if he used protection in one of his one-night stands.
If I were any other person I'd me Lmao right now.
I'll just call him, I finally decided. A simple phone call wouldn't harm anybody now would it?
I sat up from the bed and grabbed my phone off the dresser. I dialed Alexander's number and hit the call button. It ringed one time, two times...
"Shaw." A clipped tone says.
I was aware that my breathing turned ragged and palms got sweaty. Was this right? Damn it, I could just make a fool out of myself.
"Hello?" An impatient voice says again.
"Uh....... it's me." I said in a low voice.
"Viveca?" Alexander's blank voice ask and I almost flinched. It was obvious enough he didn't want to talk to me.
"I'm sorry f-for bothering you. But I just wanted to ask you something."
"Make it fast. My meeting is in a few minutes." He replied.
"D-did y-you use a co-condom when we, you know?" I asked in a voice that was barely audible but I knew he heard me.
His throat clear and the tone of his voice changes when he replied. "What kind of question is that? Of course I used protection. Now tell me what's wrong." He demanded.
"Oh." I said. I was totally freaking out right now. I was sure I was already hyperventilating.
"Yes, oh."
"I'm s-sorry. It's just that I f-forgot."
"I need an explanation. I want you in my office in ten minutes." He said in a commanding voice.
"No." I replied, then hung up the phone.
My breath was in quick and shallow breaths just as Cass returned into the room.
"What's wrong now?" She asked as she noticed my panicked state.
"I-I called him."
Cass's mouth gapes open. "You did what?!?"
"No. It wasn't like that. I just asked if he used protection." I added quickly.
"And what did he say?" She asked as she sat down beside me on the bed.
"No." I whispered.
"That's good then! But why are you so worried."
"Because, because if he did you protection. Then why is my period late. Maybe there was something wrong with it."
"Gurl, I love you to bits but trust me when I say that condoms never fail. I mean with all the girls he's been with, he's probably a pro in using one and can put one with his eyes closed."
I flinched.
"I'm sorry. But it's the truth." She said.
"I know." I sadly whispered.
"Just try this test out and we'll see what happens. But trust me, you're not pregnant. There's a reason why condoms were made you know."
I took a huge breath then went to the bathroom, leaving Cass's concerned look behind my back.
I followed the instructions and used the piece of stick. Gah, I'm really starting to think about wether I would look at the results or not.
I got out of the bathroom and stepped into the bedroom. Cass was sitting on the bed looking at me curiously.
"I guess all we have to do now is wait." She sighed.
I started pacing the room from left to right. Thinking about all the possible things that could happen if the stick showed positive.
Call me pessimistic, but I intend to imagine the worse.
A few minutes late Cass stood up and and walked towards the bathroom.
"Hey! Where are you going?!?" I quickly stood up.
"I'm going to check the results." She deadpanned.
"No!" I said horridly.
"No. I will check that results wether you like it or not." She continued walking.
Apparently I just stood there wide eyed and scared as hell.
Cass came back raising the stick in one hand, showing me face-first what the result was.
"Shit." I whispered.
