We arrived at a gala that didn't look like a gala.
Alexander and I arrived fashionably late as he called it with the full effect of people staring at his car when we arrived.
There was no sign of what this party was about from the outside of the venue which was in the large ballroom of one of the hotels that he owned.
People were staring at us like we were the star of the night which evidently I am very confused about.
I mean I know he was popular and all in the business world and among a couple of magazine shoots but we shouldn't attract this much attention. Especially when he's with someone like me of course.
Once we got inside this certain ballroom that I was excited to know what all the fuss was about, that's when I gasped then gaped in shock.
There, along the large platform stage was large letters that read my name. Yes, my name, Viveca.
What the hell, I mean not to be all feeler and shit but I think the Viveca there referred to me.
Because when we stopped right across it Alexander turned to me and grinned. Like an actual boyish grin. That kind of grin like he just got his birthday present or banged a hot chick.
Sheesh, talk about direct approach.
Still too stunned, Alexander takes my hand and leads me to the side and climbs up the stage with me in tow.
He walked fast enough with his long strides which made it hard for me to catch up with the high Louboutins I was wearing.
But I get his rush, people were already staring at us and the room was silent waiting for our supposed action. But I still didn't get any of this and I was too confused and shocked to care.
There was a microphone handed to Alexander and he grabbed it then stood proudly in the middle of the platform with me by his side with his arm secured firmly around my waist.
I blinked against the spotlight that was now proudly directed against us and I wanted to cower beneath all the stares people gave us.
Some were confused but most of the women glared at me. Men looked me up and down, obviously checking me out. I mean, what's there about me to check out? I don't even have the curves half of the women in the room has.
My back straightened as I heard Alexander's confident voice beside me.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to witness Viveca's 18th birthday. Don't be surprised but this gathering isn't the legit debut day party. No 18 roses and all that stuff, just merely a night to enjoy.
Viveca's birthday was held a few days ago but let's see to it that we make tonight the night of that very special day. So go on and make a toast and let's get this party started."
My head snaps towards Alexander's direction and from everything that he said, he totally sounded like a party guy. How can he change his mood that fast.
Alexander turns his head to the side and looks at me with a gleam in his eyes and I'm suddenly furious.
I grab his hand and lead him down the stage. People were already mingling about with champagnes in hand.
I turned to stop and look at Alexander. "Why didn't you tell me about this?" I hissed.
Alexander shrugs. "It was a surprise party."
