CHAPTER ELEVEN╰ zinnia
The next time Daisy met James he had come by the shop just before lunch and somehow convinced Daisy to close the shop for an hour. At first Daisy had been apprehensive, but James had bribed her with coffee so she had no choice but to accept the offer. Daisy was still weary around James since her last interaction with Wanda. Not to mention the escalating romance with her dream version of James; Bucky. In some ways she knew that feeding into the fantasy she had created for herself in her dreams was wrong, it was so wrong because of how it affected her relationship with the real James. But at the same time Daisy couldn't bother to care, she wasn't actively seeking him out, it was quite the opposite.
They had walked to the coffee shop nearby her flower shop and ordered their usual coffees. James of course had his coffee black. "Like your soul." Daisy had joked with him, at which he had smiled. And when it came time for Daisy to order James was ready to tease her about her sugary choice, something he always did with Dani. But Daisy wasn't like Dani at all, she ordered a cold brew with an oat milk cold foam. He had begun teasing her about it until she convinced him to take a sip from her drink to prove to him how strong the coffee actually was. Not that Daisy had anything to prove to James, but it had shut him up quite quickly and allowed them to move on to more interesting topics.
The pair had both felt like the hour passed by slowly, as if the world had stopped around them as they kept speaking. Somehow in that hour they had managed to discuss everything between heaven and earth. James had learned what a pescatarian was and that Daisy was one, in return James had taught Daisy how to introduce herself in Romanian; one of the many languages he knew.
"What's your zodiac?" Daisy had smiled at him before taking a sip from her drink. It had taken James a moment to remember what the month he was born in corresponded to which zodiac, but in the end he had finally answered.
"Pisces, I think? I was born in March." He had answered doubtfully, still unsure of his answer. Daisy nodded at him to confirm.
"I'm a Scorpio. So we're both water signs!" She had added excitedly. Most of these things didn't make sense to James, but he indulged Daisy because of how excited she had seemed.
"Does that mean your birthday is close to March or? How does the water thing work?"
"No, I was born in November. Zodiac signs aren't in the same order as the months of the year. And the elemental signs are also in a specific sequence. So Scorpios, Cancers and Pisces are all water signs."
James nodded while Daisy answered his question, trying to take in every word she uttered.
He let her explain everything that being a Pisces meant, as well as how the elemental aspect of your zodiac affects the way you behave. James wasn't sure he believed in the stars having to decide every aspect of a person's personality, and quite frankly neither did Daisy. But at the end of their discussion they were both convinced that at some level their zodiacs were compatible and they had both laughed more than they thought was possible.
