The classroom door shuts behind us with a sharp click. My back hits the wood, and I look up, straight into a pair of dark, familiar eyes.
You: "Jungkook?! What the hell are you doing? Let me go before someone sees us."
He steps back slightly, but not enough to give me real space. My heart is still racing.
Jungkook: "Relax. This classroom hasn't been used in ages. No one's coming in."
You: "What do you want? Make it quick. I have class in less than fifteen minutes."
His expression shifts, less reckless, more serious.
Jungkook: "Explain what happened this morning. At breakfast."
I break eye contact, my gaze flickering toward the window, the door handle, anywhere but him. Being cornered like this makes my chest tighten. I try to sidestep him, but he places a hand against the door beside my shoulder, blocking my path, not hurting me, just stopping me.
Jungkook: "You're not walking away this time. Why didn't you eat with us? Why do you keep answering like you don't want to talk? You refused a ride. And then. You said no one can know you're our stepsister."
His words come fast, frustration bleeding through. I cut him off before he can continue.
You: "Okay, I get it, Jungkook. I'm the villain here. I'm terrible. Can I go now?"
His jaw tightens.
Jungkook: "Don't twist it like that. I know something's wrong. Is it us? Did we do something?"
What am I supposed to tell him? He, and his brothers, haven't done anything wrong. Not a single thing. They've only tried to be kind. And that somehow makes this harder. But one thing is clear: Jungkook isn't stepping aside without an explanation. And I'm not walking out of this room in silence.
You: "It has nothing to do with you. You can blame me for it. You didn't do anything wrong."
He searches my face, clearly not satisfied.
Jungkook: "Then tell me what's wrong. You can trust me."
You: "Trust you? Jungkook, I've known you for a day."
A short, humorless laugh escapes me. His eyes narrow slightly.
Jungkook: "It does have something to do with us. Otherwise you wouldn't avoid us but laugh with those girls like everything's fine."
You: "Were you spying on me?"
Jungkook: "We were worried. The way you acted this morning... it shook us. You pushed us away before we even had a chance."
I swallow, forcing my voice steady.
You: "I'm sorry. That's just how I am."
Jungkook: "Then tell me why no one can know you're our stepsister."
Silence stretches between us. I stare at the floor for a moment, weighing my options. He won't let this go. Not without something. I lift my eyes back to his.
You: "If I tell you... will you let me leave?"
He nods immediately.
Jungkook: "Yeah. I promise."
I roll my eyes slightly, annoyed at myself for even considering this. I'm not telling him about my mom. Not about her past. Not about the mess that follows her everywhere. If he wants an explanation... He's getting a lie.
