Trying once again. [Kyalin fanfiction]

Past arguments

Lin looked over to the alarm clock, "Great, it's only 3 am," she whispered.

Kya remained fast asleep beside her, unaware of her partners staying up later than usual.

Rolling over on her side, she watched Kya sleeping soundly beside her, noting how her chest would slowly rise and fall, and her face seemed peaceful, free of any worries.

Allowing a small smile to graze her lips, despite the arguments they had recently, it had all worked out.

Falling onto her back, she looked at the ceiling; her mind drifted back to an older fight they had.

Flashback start/

Pushing open the door, "So you running of yet?" Asked Lin as she leaned against the door frame with her arms crossed.

"What are you referring to?" questioned Kya.

Letting her eyes drift from Kya's position on the bed to the floor, "I found a packed suitcase under your bed."

Felling her face drain of color, "You had no right going through my stuff." responded Kya standing from her place on the bed.

"I didn't go through your stuff; I found it while I was looking for one of my missing shoes," she countered, moving off the door frame.

Shaking her head, Kya rubbed her forehead in frustration, "Why does it matter that I have a suitcase full of clothes under the bed?"

"I'm just curious, especially after what happened last time," She responded with a slight frown.

"You have no reason to be paranoid; I'm not going to run off again, so I need you to trust me." she requested, sitting back down on the bed.

Flashback end

Snapping out of her memories as she felt Kya moving beside her.

"Why are you awake so early?" groaned Kya, still half asleep.

"I was thinking" turning from her back onto her side, she shifted closer to Kya.

"Anything important?"

"No. nothing important anymore," Lin whispered as she wrapped her arm around Kya and pulled her close until Kya's back hit her chest.

Yawning, she nodded as her eyes began to droop down, and sleep overtook her again.

Smiling and placing her forehead against the back of Kya's head, she allowed sleep to carry her off as well.

The morning had gone quite simple; Lin had gotten up first to shower while Kya enjoyed a few more minutes of sleep. Since it was Saturday, Lin didn't have to work; so they wouldn't go out to the markets until later.

They both eat breakfast soon after finishing; Lin washed the dishes while Kya dried and put them away as they usually did during the weekends and only a few times during the weekdays when they had enough time to eat together.

The soft silence drifted into the living room along with them after they had finished cleaning.

"Do you think we'll ever have children?" asked Kya from the couch where she had been reading a book comfortably.

"Unfortunately, we lack the proper equipment," responded Lin, as she stood near the bookshelf browsing the books she owned.

Rolling her eyes, "Yes. I know that, but there are other options." shutting the book in her hand, she shifted her legs onto the couch and moved down until she laid on the couch with her book resting on her chest.

"Regardless, I can't picture us with a kid." shrugged Lin, as she pulled a book from the shelf and sat on the couch.

Lifting her legs, she placed them on Lin's lap; she looked at her partner, "Well, I think we would be amazing parents, I'll be the good cop, and you can be the bad cop." Suggested Kya

Setting the book down, she would not get much reading done. "Of course, I would have to be the bad cop; you're too soft the kid would go crazy with power." she joked as a grin graced her features.

Gasping with fake hurt," I am not soft if you must know I would be an excellent mother."

"I know you would, but I wouldn't," responded Lin reopening her book.

Falling into shallow silence, Lin went back to read while Kya went to her thoughts, confused as to why Lin would think she wouldn't be a good mother. After a while, Kya decided to ask the question circling in her mind for the past couple of minutes.

"Why do you think you wouldn't be a good mom?" asked Kya with a mixture of confusion and worry present in her voice and features.

Allowing herself to open up about the past to her girlfriend, "It has to do with Tenzin."

Flashback-

"We need to have children to preserve my fathers legacy," he said, standing in the middle of her office,

"No. you knew what you were signing up for when we got together, don't act stupid."

"I knew you were devoted to your career, but I didn't think it would completely consume your life," responded Tenzin walking closer to her desk, "To the point that you wouldn't have enough time to start a family with me." he finished now at the front of her desk.

"You can't do that; you knew I never wanted kids even before we got together, and you were fine with it, but now you're holding my career against me as if that's the magical thing that has made me not want to have children with you!" she yelled standing from her chair.

"How could it not be your so absorbed with it, constantly coming home late; the only way I can see you is if I come here."

"You're missing the point; I don't want children, especially not now and not with you," she replied, allowing the anger to get to her.

Looking at her in shock, he had known she didn't want children and had hoped that as the year went by, she would soften to the idea. He had been wrong, and this new revelation angered him, leading to him finally losing his calm, "Maybe it's for the best; you would make a horrible mother," he said, knowing that it would hit hard, yet he was too consumed in his ager to care as he left.

"He was wrong; you would make a wonderful mother." Reassured Kya as she sat up on the couch and reached over for Lin's hand.

"It doesn't matter now, regardless of what he said," responded Lin, as she held Kya's hand.

"Your right," Kya said, deciding to drop the topic of having children for now.

They both gradually went back to the books they had been reading as the silence refiled into the air as it had done previously.
