The Beast

"Hamilton the Babe Porter, "Long-ball Porter" Come on DeNunez!" Ham said while closing his eyes and pointing his hand out to the middle of the field mimicking the Babe. This caused us all to burst out laughing not taking Ham the least bit serious.

"Yeah okay, yes I see it yes" Benny said to make Ham feel better as some boys were still laughing and the other half taunting him. Kenny whined up and pitched the ball to Ham. Ham ended up missing the ball, surprise surprise.

"WOAH!" Bennh exclaimed teasing Ham a bit too.

"You call that pitching?" Ham said clearly embarrassed but trying not to show it. "This is baseball not tennis!"

"Someone go get him a tennis racket!" I yelled

"Come on give me something to hit!"

"All right, Ham this is my heater! I dare you to hit it!" Kenny said

Ham mumbled something like "you'll be sorry" Whatever that means. "You want the heater? I'll give it to you." Kenny said

"No, let's give him a basketball maybe then he'd hit it." I yelled making the boys laugh

It appeared I was wrong because when Kenny pitched the ball again Ham was ready and hit it so hard it went over the fence straight into Mr.Mertles yard. We all started yelling at Ham except Benny who just stood there like a deer caught in the headlights.

(A/n No for real Mike really said🧍‍♂️in this scene lmao)

"Yeah, that's how you do it!" Ham yelled

"Ham you idiot, now we can't play no more!" Benny screamed

"Yeah what the hell, nice going Ham!" I yelled going over to stand next to Benny since he was taller than me so he provided shade like a tree... no other reason

"Great you idiot!" Kenny said throwing his mitt at Ham

All the other boys must have thought Kenny's signature mitt throwing move was great and started doing it to Ham too when he passed by.

"Hit me with heater!" "Low and outside, just like I like it!" Ham yelled

"1932 called shot World Series by the Babe!" Ham yelled not embarrassed anymore. All of a sudden Squints started screaming "No". No what? What the hell. But when I turned my head to see where he was looking I immediately started running.

"Hey guys I'll get it! What are you doing?" Smalls said noticing us running towards him. All of us were scratching at Smalls trying to pull him down all while he was so confused and yelling at us.

"Holy crap you could've been killed." Squints said mad

"Yeah-yeah truly what are ya doing?"Yeah-Yeah said out of breath

"You guys were leaving so I just thought I'd hop the fence.." Smalls said

"Glum and dumb what's the matter with you?" I said

(A/n If you get that reference marry me right now)

"Listen Smalls if you were thinking you wouldn't have thought that" I said laughing a bit

"Yeah y/ns right you can't go back there Smalls." Benny said

"Hey we said it too not just your girlfriend!" Yeah-Yeah said annoyed,
Benny just rolled his eyes.

"Well then how do we get the ball back?"

"We dont"
"We don't"
"It's history"

"Kiss it goodbye"
"Kiss it-"
"Shut up Tommy" the Timmons boys said.

"It's gone man. Gone." Bertram said

"Games over man, we'll just get another ball tomorrow." I said shrugging

"We'll never see it again" Benny said as we all started walking away

"Why not?" Smalls asked

We all turned back around and said "The Beast"

"What is that?"

Benny took it upon himself to explain to Smalls. Benny sighed and made his way over to Smalls. "Smalls listen to me. Go to that fence...real slow and be quiet."

"But I-  I think"

"No, no, no, no, no just go and peak through that hole."

But I- but I saw something. What's back there?"

"It's okay just go, just go" Benny said walking backwards to me. The boys encouraged Smalls with "go on you got this Smalls." We all sushed Smalls and and said "slow". Smalls made his way over towards the hole and peaked in. Guess he saw the beast cause he gasped and started running towards us.

"Something got the ball!" Smalls said "what was that thing?"

We all looked at each other and.      decided what to do.

"Camp out!"
