Arwen climbed over a hill, the group of teens they'd taken with them close behind. She inhaled, coughing almost instantly as the smoke entered her lungs. Burnt bodies laid everywhere on the ground, almost everything a grayish colour. She felt Bellamy join her side, both held guns in their hands. The group slowly dispierced, Arwen's gaze falling to Clarke. "Stay sharp, grounder retaliation for what happened at the bridge is coming, it's just a matter of when." Arwen advised. "Do you blame them?" Finn asked her. "No, I blame you." Bellamy shot back. "Maybe if you didn't bring guns-" "If we didn't bring guns, we'd all be dead." Arwen deadpanned, putting an end to their arguing. "It doesn't matter why they're coming anymore. It's our job to be ready when they do, we're alone now." Bellamy agreed. Lexi followed Raven's eyes on Clarke just in time to see her playing with some pink liquid. "Clarke! Stop!" Raven warned, running over with Arwen behind. "Rocket fuel?" She asked. "Hydrazine." Arwen stated. "Highly unstable in it's none-solid form. If this stuff meets fire, we're all pink mist." She added, looking at Raven for confirmation. With a nod from Raven, she took a rock and dipped it in the light pink liquid. "Fire in the hole!" She warned before throwing the rock in a small fire in the middle of the debris. "We need to clear the area!" She called over to Bellamy. "We move in formation, no straggling, weapons hot. We gotta get back before dark." He ordered the group.
Once they started to leave, Finn joined Arwen's side almost instantly. "I'm sorry." He said, making her turn her head in his direction, prompting him to continue. "I shouldn't have snapped at you like that." He said, looking ashamed. "And I'm sorry if I was a little harsh and didn't tell you about the guns." She admitted, looking in front of her as the group made its way back towards camp. They stayed in a comfortable silence, Finns hand slipping into hers in a comforting manner, not needing to have anything said for him to know she was stressed recently. She squeezed his hand back gently, sending him a grateful look. Meanwhile, Bellamy glared at their intertwined hands with jealousy, while Raven felt hurt more than ever.
"Where is he?!" Bellamy yelled as he made his way to the dropship. Saying he was angry was an understatement. Arwen, Clarke and Finn followed him, knowing whatever was going to happen wasn't going to be good. Sitting against the ladder, his face bloodied and looking as weak as ever, was in fact, John Murphy. "Everyone but Connor and Derek out now." Arwen ordered calmly. "He claims he was with the grounders." Derek explained to the leaders. "We caught him trying to sneak back into camp." Connor added. "I wasn't sneaking, I was running from the grounders." Murphy defended himself, his voice gravelly. "Anyone see grounders?" Bellamy asked. When he received shakes of heads, he raised his gun at Murphy. "What the hell are you doing!" Finn snapped, stepping in front of the gun. "We were clear what would happen if he ever came back." Bellamy argued, not lowering the gun. "Bellamy, stop." Arwen warned, forcefully pushing his gun down and standing in front of Finn protectively. "If he was with the grounders, he might know something to help us." She added, her eyes never leaving his'. "Help us? We hanged him up, banished him, and now we're going to kill him. Get out of the way." He snapped. "No! Finn and Arwen are right, his fingernails are missing. They tortured him." Clarke said as she crouched down to examine him. "Like hell they are. Clarke, think about Charlotte!" The man argued. "I am thinking about her. What happened to her is as much our fault as his." She reasoned. "Listen, once he's better, he tells us everything he knows, then he's gone, okay?" Arwen suggested. "And if he doesn't leave?" Clarke asked her. Arwen glanced at Murphy. "Then we kill him." She decided.
It wasn't long before Arwen made her way back to the dropship, slightly swaying on her feet. "Clarke..." She trailed off, seeing the blood falling from the girl's eyes. "Murphy, look at me." Arwen ordered Murphy. "I need you to tell me exactly how you escaped from the grounders." She told him. "I- They forgot to close my cage. No one was around so I took off." He explained, before turning over and vomiting his own blood on the floor, just as Bellamy ran inside. "They let him go." Arwen said in realization. "Did he do something to you?" Bellamy asked in fury as he stared at Arwen's weak looking figure. "Stay back." She warned. "Biological warfare. You were waiting for the grounders' retaliation for the bridge? This is it. Murphy's the weapon." She explained. "Is this your revenge? Helping the grounders kill us?!" Bellamy snapped at Murphy. "I- I swear I didn't know about this!" The weak boy defended. Arwen's ears started to ring, barely hearing anything the group were saying other than small mumbles. Her eyes started to see double, her body slightly swaying on her feet as she tried to stand normally. She could see one of the guys, maybe Derek, starting to seizure, before falling dead on the ground, Clarke confirming it when she checked his pulse. Then she felt it. The bile rising in her throat. Bending down, she let the blood flow out of her mouth, coughing. "Arwen!" Clarke yelled in fear, running over to her friend. "I'm- I'm fine." She tried to assure, but really, she looked and felt anything but. Clarke eyed her warily, Finn and Bellamy looking fearful as well. "I know what this is. It's blood cough, the grounders use it for-" She didn't get to finish her sentence before she passed out, falling in Finn's arms, who didn't hesitate to catch her and hold her on the ground. "Shit." They all whispered, realizing they'd just lost their only intel on this.
