Chapter Seven

"IS SHE REALLY GONE?" Rocket's tone was very hesitant but it was something he needed to know. He was on the same page as Allison when it came to the severity of separating the two personalities that inhabited the same body. Once upon a time, it was thought that Allison couldn't live without Frost and vice versa, but that theory was proven wrong once before. Rocket thought that previous time was merely a coincidence... But now, the theory was proven incorrect.

After a night full of restless sleeps, and screams as some awoke from nightmares, the Avengers decided in the early hours of the morning that the mission was to put in action as soon as possible. Allison and Rocket, who had found themselves laying awake at the night staring at the night sky as they sat on the compound roof, were the first two in the Benatar. They didn't need the extra preparation time the others required.

Once sitting in complete and utter silence, Allison let go of a distressed sigh and sank into her seat at the front of the newly replenished Benatar, Rocket on her right with the open seat in front of him being reserved for Nebula. Sadly, Allison nodded in confirmation, leaning her heavy head onto her open palm with eyes suddenly heavy. She really was exhausted, but Allison didn't want to slow down or let herself sleep. There was a chance everything could be reversed.

"What about your powers?" The hesitance remained in Rocket's voice.

Allison shook her head, closing her eyes for a moment to suppress letting go of a distressed cry. "It's all gone. I'm... I'm just basically a human now... so, useless..." Her voice was soft and Rocket almost missed the reply. The death of the Guardians was like when Allison was torn from her biological mother, taken from her home because of her hidden powers.

Rocket stood up in his seat, jumping onto the armrest of Allison's seat with ease. "You're not useless, Alli," he said, hugging her warm arm, the unnatural body temperature being quite startling. It may seem like just a small detail that isn't relevant, but no matter who was in control, the Ice Demon's body temperature was pretty much lower then any other living being. It was never warm or even close to being hot.

Allison leant her head on the raccoon as he clung onto her arm like a sloth to a tree. "It doesn't matter, I just hope the Avengers are right... We use the Infinity Stones to get everyone back, including Frost."

Nebula soon joined the two Guardians, offering a silent nod of acknowledgment before sitting silently in her seat. Rocket took that as the moment to return to his own. The other Avengers soon joined, spreading out in the empty seats on the Benatar with certain pairs sticking together like Melissa and Carol (who were directly behind the Guardians) and Natasha and Laurel who were more in the corner. Elizabeth however awkwardly slid past the heroes, silently passing Allison and ignoring the woman who called her name. She accepted the middle seat in the front row, positioned between Bruce and Nebula.

The ship smoothly lifted from the damp grass, zooming into the sky without warning. The sudden just forward sent those not used to high velocity speeds back in their chairs, seeming immobile by the unexpected movement.

Once breaking free of earth's obit, Rocket brought the Benatar to what felt like a stop when in reality, the ship was switching to a light speed engine to send them hurdling across the galaxy in minutes. As Nebula and Allison started to switch the engines, Rocket turned and looked over the Avengers with a small smirk. "Okay. Who here hasn't been to space?"
