Chapter Sixteen
⚡️Morag, 2014
NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS DID LAUREL THINK SHE'D BE IN SPACE AGAIN. Five years ago, in seemed like the only logical option. Like it'd be the only option left. After that, she thought an opportunity to see the universe beyond earth would be impossible.
"Alright. Bring it down low... Right on that line. That's it. Down, down..." Rhodey guided Nebula through landing the Benatar, protecting the vehicle from obstacles that could potentially damage it. If the ship returned damaged, it was well known Rocket would claw there eyes out in frustration.
Laurel's partners weren't as interested in the planet as her. As Clint and Natasha tried urging the process to be sped up, Laurel crouched down and watched as small creature ran by. A small smile graced her lips as she watched the animals play, tackling one another with their large tails swaying playfully.
Laurel's head snapped up as Natasha nudged her with her foot. "Time to go," the red haired woman said, making Laurel quickly stand.
"Look out for each other all right?" Rhodey practically begged. He was surprised that he earned a hug from Laurel after he separated from the one with Clint. "Take that stone and come back. No messing around."
"Hey. You got this." Clint gave a small smile to Rhodey.
"Let's get it done. Yes, sir."
Laurel and Clint followed Natasha lead to the Benatar, climbing the steps with ease. The Black Widow glanced back with a playful smile. "See you back."
"You guys watch each other's six." Rhodey was clearly worried and concerned for the well-being of his teammates. The uncertainty of Vormir brought a chill down his spine.
The three exchanged short glances with one another, knowing that no matter what happened, they'd have each other's backs. After being some of the best agents in S.H.I.E.L.D, to Laurel being a manipulated HYDRA assassin, before earning her memories back because of her friends... the trio had been through a lot. And no matter what, they always supported each other and helped one another out. That wasn't going to stop anytime soon.
With final goodbyes exchanged, the trio took their seats at the front of the Benatar, the ship lifting off once the back hatch was sealed. Courtesy of Nebula, all they had to do was sit back and wait as the vehicle flew them to Vormir.
The ship unexpectedly took off at tremendous speeds, zooming across the galaxies.
Clint grinned, finding himself amused by the whole situation. "It's a long way from Budapest."
The trio laughed together.

MELISSA WAS STATIONED ON THE TOP FLOOR OF AVENGERS TOWER. She peered through the large opening behind the balcony, keeping her head low as she watched The Avengers apprehend Loki. Her hands were wrapped around the stone floor as she peered over the top, waiting for the opportunity to go after the Tesseract.
"You seeing this Tony?" Melissa asked with two fingers pressed to her earpiece.
"Yep. Got to hustle, Cap. Things look like they're just about wrapped up here."
