Chapter Twenty Two
⚡️

THE WOMEN CHARGED INTO BATTLE AND FOCUSED ALL THEIR EFFORTS IN A SINGLE AREA. The direct plot of land in front of the van was slowly cleared of enemies and Elizabeth slowly noticed her opening being made. She bounced on the balls of her feet as if charging up before taking off, sparks of her Speedforce energy burning the very ground in her wake. She dashed forward, a loud yell passing her lips as she forced her speed to exceed her record.

With a loud huff, she leaped off the ground, Thanos' sword missing her by mere inches, and she let go of the gauntlet. The van's quantum tunnel was already activated and was spinning rapidly, welcoming the gauntlet when suddenly, a breach appeared in the middle of the tunnel.

Elizabeth's eyes widened as the ghosts dashed through, one collecting the gauntlet in it's thin arms. A group of them appeared, charging into battle and collecting groups of Chitauri and killing them in an instant.

"What the hell are those things!?" Scott exclaimed, crouching beside the fallen speedster who watched with sudden fear. The ghosts flew over the field and attacked anybody who was not meant to be there, the took hold off every transported weapon of machine and destroyed it with the mere flick of their hand.

Thanos watched helplessly as the ghosts soared around him, his sword being destroyed and much of his army suddenly falling as a result.

Mjölnir was torn from Steve's grasp, and all he could do was watch as it was ditched into a portal that snapped shut immediately after. Laurel and Reyna's battle with Proxima Midnight was abruptly cut short as one of the ghosts swooped in. It picked up Proxima by her arms, before tearing her literally limb from limb. What was left of her lifeless corpse fell to the ground in a pile of blood and guts.

Elizabeth followed after one of the ghosts, yelling for it to wait when suddenly a bony hand grasped her upper arm. She screamed, spinning around to come face to face with a ghost, its skeleton face sending a shiver down her spine as it lifted her from the ground.

An abrupt tug upon her ankle made them freeze in the air, the ghost spinning around to find Stephen stood on the ground with a rope wrapped around Elizabeth's ankle. The sorcerer gritted his teeth, digging his heels into the earth as the ghost continued to pull. Another rope suddenly appeared, Archer now appearing and performing the same action as his mentor.

"I'm not loosing her," Stephen muttered through gritted teeth.

"Me neither," Archer instantly responded.

Thunder rumbled above and a strike of lightning rocketed towards the earth. It crashed into the ghost, the short attack managing to knocking the apparition to the ground. Elizabeth screamed as the grip was released, and the ground rapidly approached. But she was caught by Carol just in time. The glowing hero spun around, watching as two ghosts came flying after her. She managed to shoot one back but the other flew through the attack.

"Let me go! They're after me!" Elizabeth squirmed in Carol's grasp, and eventually, she fell. Hitting the floor, the speedster immediately took off, hearing the dark calls of the apparitions following her.

She weaved through the crowds breathlessly, and the sparks that lit up the field instantly attracted the ghosts attention. Those busy attacking the enemy moved their attention and followed Elizabeth.
