"Morning, guys." Lloyd greeted, stepping into the Monastery's dining room.
"Morning." Kai echoed, beckoning for Lloyd to sit beside him. Lloyd took the seat with a polite nod. "Zane's almost done with brunch."
"Ah, I haven't heard that word in ages!" Jay swooned, pressing his hands to his cheeks. "I'm so glad the Sensei let us sleep in."
"You and me both, buddy." Cole groaned as he stretched his sore arms. "We've had quite the week."
Lloyd had to agree with his team on that one. The past few days, they'd been chasing a small gang around Ninjago City. It wasn't as big as the Sons of Garmadon were, but it was certainly just as troublesome.
They captured the last of the crooks the night before at approximately nine o'clock– not very late, but excruciatingly late when you hadn't had much sleep the two nights prior.
"Zaaaane!" Jay yelled suddenly, cupping his hands around his mouth to amplify his voice. "The food smells amazing! Doing great, you're my hero!"
"Complimenting me won't make the process go any faster, Jay." Zane reminded, projecting his voice from the adjacent room. "But I appreciate the sentiment."
Jay whined, hitting his forehead against the table. Nya patted his back supportively with a short laugh.
That was when the ninja's Sensei entered the room, prompting their brief conversation to halt as they greeted them.
"I'm afraid brunch might have to wait." Sensei Garmadon broke the news, and Jay whined louder from the table.
"What's going on?" Lloyd was quick to his feet. "Is the city okay?"
"The city is fine." Sensei Wu assured. "We've been summoned by an old friend."
"Not too descriptive, Sensei." Kai informed.
"Mistaké." Answered Sensei Garmadon. "She is taking care of a young woman she believes is an elemental master."
"Believes?" Cole raised a brow. "So she may not be?"
"And taking care of? Is she sick?" Nya added her own inquiry.
"Guys, you're forgetting the most important part!" Jay chuckled nervously. "Remember, Mistaké is the same old woman who sENT US TO AN ENTIRE OTHER REALM!" He buried his face in his hands. "I don't waNT TO GO BACK TO ANOTHER REALM AGAIN!"
"We aren't going for a prophecy, Jay." Sensei Garmadon silenced his fretting. "We're going for the girl."
"It seems like a case of power denial." Sensei Wu mused, tangling his hand through his beard. "When an elemental master is late in experiencing their true potential, their powers may try to unlock themselves on their own."
"What does that mean?" Lloyd asked, curious.
"It means," Sensei Wu frowned. "That if we do not help her, her power has a chance of killing her in its attempt to unravel itself."
"Then we must hurry." Zane decided as he joined them in the room.
"I'll get the Bounty running." Nya got straight to work, and the other ninja followed suit.
While the others hurried off, Lloyd approached his father. He bit back the questions on his tongue, instead focusing on the plan at hand.
"Are you coming with us?" He asked.
"Wu is. I am staying here with Misako while we find all the information we can on power denial." Sensei Garmadon placed a hand on his shoulder, his voice lowering. "It is not often that an elemental master experiences this, which probably means that the girl won't want to listen to reason. Convincing her to come back to the Monastery is crucial to her survival, son. I trust that you will say the right thing, if necessary."
