I wake up sweaty and terrified. I rub my eyes and yawn, adjusting to the new day. Light green and purple bruises run along the sides of my arms, and my throat is still hurting and swollen. That's how I know, it wasn't a horrible nightmare. This is really happening.

Before leaving Dimitri's house yesterday, I told him, once more, that I wouldn't leave. I'm tired of the lies and secrets. I refuse to give up and run, at least not without Marcus by my side. For all I know, Dimitri could be bluffing. He's bluffing. Right?

The worst that could happen, is he tells Marcus the truth about me. If that happened, I would just explain everything, and he would understand. Right?

Who am I kidding? I'm dealing with actual mafia leaders here. Criminals. That should be enough to scare me away, but somehow it's not. I'm in love with this criminal... which makes me some kind of willing accomplice.

But he's not the cold, ruthless murderer the FBI knows him as. I won't leave him behind, even if that means my true identity is exposed. Does that make me a complete idiot?

Yes. Yes it does.

My stomach does thousands of different flips and somersaults, as I walk to the back of Skull Bar. I stop at the metal door that I've walked through so many times before. I take a deep breath, and raise my hand up to the scanner. I do my best to ignore how it shakes with nerves.

The green light traces my hand, this time a different buzz sounds. I try the door, but it's still locked. My hand print was removed from the system... Does Marcus already know?

The door swings open, knocking me out of the way. Kol and Dimitri step out, stopping at the sight of me. Dimitri's face is blank and cold, while Kol's is filled with emotion. His eyes are teary and red, as if he's been holding back tears. He looks at me with disgust, a feeling that tore at my entire soul.

"Kol..." I whisper, reaching for his arm. He jerks me away roughly, unable to look at me anymore. He clears his throat as he pushes past me. He knows. "What did you do?" I gasp, turning to Dimitri. He watches as Kol walks away, sadness in his eyes.

"I did what I had to," he spits. The sadness when he watched Kol, is now replaced with bitterness as he looks deeply into my eyes. My breath increases rapidly, as I realize this means he's told Marcus.

I ignore Dimitri's harsh glare, as I run through the door. I carry my legs as fast and as far as they can take me, before reaching the door to the training room. It's locked. I signal some guards to let me in, and they oblige. I guess not everyone knows about me just yet.

I make my way to Marcus's office, catching my breath as I knock rapidly. Guards stand outside his door, eyeing me curiously. I grow more frantic when there's no response. Without thinking, I turn the knob and rush inside.

Marcus is standing over his desk, staring down at nothing. His gaze remains steady on the nothingness in front of him. He's so still you can barely tell if he's breathing. I gulp nervously as I shut the door behind me. Not even the sound of the guards telling me to leave, are enough to shake him out of his trance.

I slowly approach the desk, my entire body trembling with fear as I do. "Marcus?" I whisper. He flinches a bit, indicating that the sound of my voice scared him. Scared him? Did he really think of me as a threat?

Suddenly his head shoots up, eyes piercing through mine. His irises are pale, and filled with evil. I continue my slow journey to his desk, when he whips out his gun. His once strong, and leveled arm shakes, as he aims for me.
