Katrina had asked Janet around for drinks, so Janet left Riley off with Chad for the night.
She arrived at Katrina's and knocked on the door. It was quickly opened by a very tipsy Katrina, "Am I unlovable Janet." Katrina slurs, looking Janet dead in the eye. "Wow, straight to it. No hello or anything." Janet is hit with a strong waft of vodka as Katrina speaks. "Katrina, what did we say about getting this drunk?" Janet says sighing, she gently pushes Katrina into the house and makes her way in, guiding her to the sofa.
"Where are Misha and Sergei?" Janet asks. Katrina takes another swig of vodka, "I left them at their Babushka's." Katrina responds, followed quickly by, "You didn't answer my question." "What Katrina?" Janet asks sarcastically. "Am I unloveable?" "No Katrina of course you're not... how much have you drunk?" Janet says, changing the topic. "Don't change the subject." Katrina says firmly. Here eyes start to well with tears. "Katrina, if you're going to drink this much every time I come round, I'm just going to leave, how can we hang out when you're like th-" She glances around and sees Katrina crying softly, Janet wasn't used to seeing Katrina like this. Katrina was usually the crazy drunk, or the violent drunk, but never the sad drunk. "Hey- hey, I'm sorry. Of course you're not unloveable. You have your boys and I love you and-" "Wh-what? You love me?" Katrina interrupts, her mouth slightly wide in shock. "Yeah, like as a friend of course." Janet says quickly.
"See this is what I mean! I AM unlovable. Even the women my own children try to set me up with doesn't love me." Katrina snaps. "Katrina, we've been over this. I'm not even gay." Janet says, knowing deep down she was lying to her best friend. "Da. Of course you're not. You're a woman, so you'd be a lesbian. Unless there's something you're not telling me." Katrina raising a eyebrow looking smugly. Janet tries not to laugh, then sighs unimpressed "You know what I meant Katrina." "Well say it right then." Katrina taunts. "Fine, I'm not a lesbian." "Da, fair enough. You could be bi though." Katrina says raising the other eyebrow this time. "Katrina, I swear if you don't stop. How are your eyebrows that bloody flexible?" Janet says, getting frustrated with the drunk Russian. "They're not the only thing..." Katrina smirks. "KATRINA!" Janet exclaims, Katrina was something else when she was drunk. Katrina just laughs drunkenly in response.
"Ok- ok I get it. I'll be alone forever." Katrina says, her words trailing off as she drops her head, her eyes still full of tears as she gulped back her emotions. Janet notices Katrina even more emotional, "Katrina, no you won't. You're the most amazing person I know. If anyone's going to be alone, it'll be me." Janet says empathetically as she reaches across, pulling Katrina into a tight hug. Katrina instinctively tried to pull away from the embrace but then melted into Janet's arms, she felt safe there. Janet rested her chin on top of Katrina's head as they sat, she was practically cradling the sobbing Russian.
'I've never seen Katrina like this. I've really hurt her, maybe I should just tell her how I feel. But I don't know how I feel? I mean I'm straight, right?' Thoughts danced through Janet's head as she sat holding Katrina tightly.
Eventually Katrina stopped crying. She had fallen asleep. Janet laughed slightly as she noticed Katrina's slow breaths as she drifted off to sleep. "Great, I'm stuck here now. Maybe if I move slowly, I won't wake her up." She whispered quietly to herself, and slowly began to remove her arms from around the sleeping Russian.
She felt a sharp pain as Katrina dug her nails into her side, tightening her grip as she clung onto Janet. She said nothing, just clung onto her. Janet knew Katrina was too strong to fight off so she just sighed and stayed put. "I guess I'm stuck here." She sighed, though smiling slightly.
Katrina wasn't sleeping anymore, but she still pretended just so she could stay in Janet's arms. She smiled widely as she snuggled more comfortably into Janet's chest, loosening her grip. "Thanks Katrina. I thought you were going to rip my arms off, holding me like that." Janet says with an amused tone. "Sorry." Katrina mumbles, the only thing she had said since breaking down.
"No. I am." Janet responds, pressing a light kiss on top of Katrina's head, the two sigh at the same time with a sense of relief and contentment.
