Chapter 3: The Northern Lights

Scarlett's POV

I wake up and I notice I'm in my room somehow. Which makes me very confused because the last thing I remember is Damon putting sunscreen on me. I stand up and put on my flats. Before I turn around to go towards the door I hear someone "Hey" Damon says looking at me half smiling.

"Hey... Um do you know how I like got here...like in the house.. and my bed?" He sort of smiles and he walks towards me but only a few steps. "Yeah..I um..well you sort of fell asleep in the beach and...I brought you here"

"Oh..well thank you"

"No problem" he says and just when I think he's going to leave I hear him say "hey you um want to go outside like around 9? I hear that today we can see the northern lights and I don't know I thought maybe you wanted to go see it"

"Oh yeah that sounds fantastic!! Thank you" I say as I go to hug him. When I reach him my arms are around his neck and then slowly he puts his hands on my waist. I mean a lot of people think of Damon as a bad person but that's because they don't know him like I do, and he's not like that, I mean if you get on his nerves yeah he's going to go all well Damon on you but if you really get to know him he can be the sweetest person ever. We both hold that hug for a few seconds and we let go.

It's kind of awkward because as I slowly let go of his neck I notice that our faces are weirdly close to each other. What makes it more awkward is that neither of us do anything. Then all of a sudden one of those vision things flash in my mind

Vision

I kissed him. I kissed Elijah not caring that it could hurt Klaus. but what made me feel worse is that I didn't regret it and instead of just letting the kiss stop there, I pushed him against the wall. I knew I was about to do something that I would regret but I didn't care.

End of Vision

"Hey, Scarlett?" Damon said as he shook me back to reality.

"Damon.... what happened?"

"We were hugging and then all of a sudden you went into a sort of trance."

I didn't say anything and just kept thinking about that vision. I mean the girl looks like me but it can't be me. First of all I haven't even had my first kiss yet so I wouldn't just throw myself at anyone, especially Elijah! The initials in the first vision. E.G. I have to figure out who the person is and why I'm getting visions of what's happening or happened in her life and also why she looks like me.

"Scar... You okay?" Damon asked me with his concerned face that rarely anyone saw

"Yeah...I..um.. I think I need to see those northern light." I say trying to laugh it off and Damon joins in on my laughter.

He helps me stand up and we slowly go downstairs. It's around 8:50pm so we should be able to see the northern any minute now.

We get inside Damon's car because he said that if we drive somewhere else we will be able to see them better. As he starts driving I look out the window and notice we're closer and closer to getting near no where. Finally we end up in the middle of a road. I stare at the window confused as we stop. Then I look at Damon.

"Here?" I ask him with my eyebrow raising

"Yeah here" he says in a sort of sassy way that makes me want to laugh but I don't. He gets out of the car and uses his vampire speed to get to my side of the car to open the door for me but I beat him first. I open the car door he's already there but hasn't opened it yet. As I get out of the car and stand up I notice some sort of light on top of me. The northern lights.

"Oh my god" I whispered under my breath and Damon looked at me which meant he heard me. I started giggling like an idiot.

"Beautiful...right?" Damon asked me

"Yes!! Thank you for bringing me"

"I wasn't just gonna leave you at home to keep doing nothing for the rest of your life"

"Haha Mr.Salvatore"

"Mr? Cmon I'm not that old!" Damon said and I started laughing.

" Seriously Damon? Your literally 186 years old and you want to talk about age right now?"

He does his usual Damon smirk and just ignores what I just said.

All this conversation and I forgot about the lights. the beautiful lights that are above me. I just think about them for a second and how everything is so easy for them. They don't have any problems or worries. God damn it they're just lights Scarlett!

I looked up and all of a sudden I feel Damon next to me. Then I looked at him and just wondered, what would I do without him? He's my best friend, my brother.....my family.

"Damon" I barely whisper knowing he can hear me

"Yeah" he says a little louder than me

"I love you"

He smiles and says "I love you too"

Just as he speaks he pulls me into a big hug. I don't why but I start crying.

"Damon promise me you'll always be here" I say tearing up with my head in his neck. He breaks apart from the hug and looks at me since we're inches away from each other.

"I promise" he says very slowly.

As soon as he finishes I feel a drop of water on my forehead. I look up and it starts raining.

"C'mon time to abandon ship" damon says as he notices it starts raining

"No, just wait a minute" then I look up
"It'll clear up"

Then I look back at Damon and notice he's soaking wet and I'm probably soaking wet too.

We're staring at each other for what seems hours and I like it, I feels...perfect. While I'm in my thoughts I notice Damon leaning in towards me. I don't know what to do so I just stay there standing looking at Damon coming closer and closer to me by the second.
