Chapter 6: Strange connections

Stefans's POV
"Shit" I mumbled under my breath but I knew that Damon heard me

"What the hell is she doing here?" Damon said sounding very protective and emphasizing on she.

"Oh come on now, where are you manners Damon?" Rebekah said with her British accent

"Where's your psychotic brother?"

"He's around" Rebekah said with a smirk. The only ones not talking were this "scar" girl who's obviously one of Elena's doppelgängers and me.

"I know you" the doppelgänger spoke up

"I'm sure you do" Rebekah said with a smile

"What the hell do you want Rebekah?" Damon said sounding very agitated

"Oh Damon the question isn't WHAT I want, but WHO I want" she said smirking again

"What the hell are you talking about?" Damon said sounding very annoyed but confused at the same time.

"The doppelganger." She says looking towards the doppelganger with hate.

"She is destined to destroy my family and I can't let that happen now can I?" Rebecca said and at the same time she rushed towards the doppelgänger but I couldn't let her hurt her. For some reason I couldn't allow myself to let Rebecca hurt her. She reminded me of Elena and I felt like this was my second chance. My second chance to help Elena. To rescue her. So I ran in front of Rebecca and grabbed her arm.

"What the bloody hell do you think your doing?" Rebecca said practically screaming at me.

"I'm sorry" I said as a grabbed her and put a stake through her heart. "Run" I said. "Run you idiots" I screamed and Damon took the doppelganger's arm and did exactly what I told him to do. He ran.

Scarlett's POV

All of a sudden he stabbed her heart. He killed her but with a tree branch. She was a vampire but she wanted to kill me. She said that I would destroy her family but I don't even know who she is. I mean I know I've seen her before I just don't know where. Before I could try to figure out who the girl was I heard Stefan yell at us to run and Damon grabbed my arm and before I knew it I was in front of the Salvatore boarding house. I was just standing there but Damon was already upstairs packing my clothes. I ran up the stairs and told him

"What the hell was that? And what are you doing"

He didn't answer.

"Damon I wanna know wh-" and before I could finish what I was saying Damon grabs my arm and tells me "Scarlett there are things that I've never told you and that I hoped I never had to but we need to have a talk. Just not right now, we're leaving Mystic Falls"

"What?" I say almost yelling "What the hell do you mean? I'm not leaving"

"Don't you get that your in danger and I can't let anything happ-" Before he could finish someone snapped his neck. Stefan. I didn't know what to do. I just stood there with my eyes wide open and looked at Damon's lifeless body. I then looked up at Stefan and ran. Or atleast I tried to. Before I could reach the door he closed it and told me to turn around. I didn't want to but fear got the best of me so there I was looking at Stefan. I couldn't hold it anymore and I started crying.

"No no don't cry. I won't hurt you." He said looking very sincere but that still wasn't enough

"You look just like her" He said while stroking my check. I was so confused. I didn't know what he was talking about and just then he kissed me. This complete stranger kissed me. The bad thing? I actually kissed him back but then I immediately pulled away and without thinking I slapped him. What the hell was wrong with him? What the hell was wrong with me? Why did I kiss him back? Ugh I need to sanitize my mouth. His reaction to the slap was different then what I expected. I thought he would yell or hurt me but he didn't. He just kept looking at me. And I couldn't take it anymore. I just started getting up and waited for his reaction. He didn't do anything. Then I started walking towards Damon and Stefan grabbed my arm. "don't" he said.

"Why not?"

"He's gonna take you away again. I can't lose you again" He said in a very low voice

I had no idea what he was talking about. Take me away? From Mystic Falls yeah but from Stefan no. I didn't belong to Stefan so how would Damon take me away. All I did was look at Stefan with confusion and then Damon started waking up. Stefan tried to go towards him and the part of me that cares about Damon came out. I stepped in front of Damon and looked at Stefan with the best bitch face I had. Slowly Damon tried getting up. Stefan again tried to go near him but I wouldn't let him.

"Move" he said coldy

"No" I responded very firmly. "If you want to hurt him your gonna have to hurt me too because I am not moving"

"Fine have it your way but don't forget I tried to help you" Stefan said as he left. I didn't know where he went and honestly I didn't care. All I cared about was Damon.

"What the hell just happened?" Damon asked confused as he slowly got back up on his two feet

"Stefan happened" I said while I looked at the door which Stefan left through.
