Kokichi's POV:
"Mr. Oma, You're awake!"
"Huh..?"

I opened my eyes to see who the warm, comforting voice belonged to and immediately slammed them back shut after being greeted by a blinding white room and lights shining in my eyes.

"Do you remember what happened?"
"I remember coughing up a shit-load of flowers and thorns then passing out."
"Good."
"So.."
"As we needed your consent for the plant removal surgery, we only cleaned out the flowers and trimmed the roots a bit."
"Oh, okay."
"You are still in the late stages of Hanahaki, stage 5 to be exact."
"That's the one where you die."
"Unfortunately, yes. However, we will be able to treat you to help extend your life."
"Okay?"
"Well, you'll need to use an inhaler in the morning when you wake up, at noon, and right before you go to sleep."
"Damn it!"
"We've contacted your school, you'll be transferring to class 1-C, as it's a much smaller class and you'll have less of a risk of getting coughed on by someone. It's best if you use as little of your energy as possible, so you are not to participate in any physical activities, including P.E activities, jogging, sports, yoga, pretty much anything that isn't completely necessary. We also recommend using a wheelchair."
"If I used a wheelchair, wouldn't that be exercising and exerting myself by pushing my entire body weight around by reaching down and rolling the wheels?" I asked, hoping to get a reaction out of the doctor.
The doctor smirked. "Actually, someone has offered to push you, and also help you with any other things."
"Who?"
"Rantaro Amami, the one who called an ambulance for you. He even did CPR. He was really worried, and even decided to sleep at the hospital so he could see you as soon as possible."

Rantaro?
He.. called an ambulance?
He really cared enough about me to do all that?

"Well, I've talked for long enough, I'll bring him in."

The doctor stepped out of the room for a few minutes, and came back with Rantaro walking silently behind her.

"Rantaro..?"

The green-haired boy stopped a few feet away from the smaller boy's bed.

"I- I'm so-"

Before I could finish my sentence, he ran over and hugged me.

"I thought I was going to lose you forever! I'm so sorry for not noticing how sick you were! I could have killed you! I'm so, so sorry!"
"Rantaro.. It's not your fault. You saved my life.."

Rantaro sobbed onto my shoulder and kept apologizing until he slumped over, asleep.

"I'll take him, he was up all night pacing. He needs to sleep."

I watched as the doctor picked up Rantaro, bridal style, and walked away.

"Well, this is boring."

I picked up my phone, which was next to my bed, and started scrolling through my apps.

Hmm, messages! Who should I text though..? Oh- I should probably tell Shumai and my friends that I'm in the hospital.
