"Ahh, it's been a while since I've been in Tokyo. It's so nice out here," Yumi sighed happily, eyes set on the pretty and bright skies above her. "Yeah, it may be nice, but this driving of yours sure isn't," Iwaizumi, who sat in the passenger's seat muttered, a tint of green in his face. Yumi scrunched her nose up at the third year, deciding to speed up a little bit more, causing Iwaizumi to slam back in his seat. "So mean, Iwaizumi-senpai. Oikawa-senpai didn't complain when I drove him home," Yumi scoffed, making Iwaizumi's eyebrows raise. "You drove Oikawa home? What, did he blackmail you? Cause if he did I'll kill him," Iwaizumi threatened, making Yumi grin. "Iwaizumi, you'd murder for me? How romantic," she said with a soft smile, making him scoff. "Don't flatter yourself, anything to rid myself of Oikawa," Iwaizumi joked, making Yumi laugh.
"He didn't, by the way, blackmail me I mean. We kind of got to talking, and I gave him a ride home yesterday because it started raining, no biggie," Yumi said with a shrug. "He's really not that bad, you two just kind of got off on each other's wrong foot, that's all," Iwaizumi said, making Yumi nod. "You're right, I'm just hoping we can keep up the friendly atmosphere between the both of us," she said with a sigh, looking at her newly found friend. "Is he always so exhausting?" She asked, her response merely being a sheepish grin from Iwaizumi. "GPS says we're gunna be about an hour early, wanna go to a park or something?" Yumi asked Iwaizumi, who just shrugged. "Well, I didn't really get the chance to get breakfast, we could go get some light food before we join the other," Iwaizumi suggested, making Yumi's eyes light up. "Oh, yummy, yes, I know just the place," the small girl exclaimed, her foot accidentally pushing on the gas pedal.
"Yumi!"
"Oops, sorry!"Before they knew it, an hour quickly passed by and they found themselves in the front of Fukurodani academy, where one of the top four volleyball teams in tokyo resided. "Are you nervous?" Yumi found herself asking Iwaizumi as they sat on the hood of her car, Iwaizumi only sitting on the beautiful car after Yumi's constant pleading. "I'm never nervous. If I put myself in a nervous state, there goes my cool and collected mindset. And if I lose that mindset, there goes my volleyball training and practicing that I worked so hard on to be in the situation I am in. I've been playing this game for so long, we're basically the same entity, and I would never want to let myself down, so I'm never letting volleyball down as well," Iwaizumi concluded, while Yumi hummed in agreement, taking a sip of her boxed juice. "So you're so arrogant that you delude yourself into not getting nervous, got it," Yumi concluded, making Iwaizumi almost fall off the car in shock. "Arrogant?! How'd you get arrogant out of my words of wisdom," Iwaizumi asked, making Yumi merely smile. "Well, obviously because everyone gets nervous, whether it be you getting quieter than usual or you constantly running to the bathroom because they're about to vomit. I used to get a really queasy stomach, I felt like I was going to vomit every single time before a match, whether it's a real match or a practice match. I wasn't really competitive growing up, it was more like playing for fun, but I loved volleyball, so I wanted to play it anytime I could. But then I began to see the animosity between different volleyball teams and the tension. I hated the tension," Yumi sighed, looking up at the sky as she reminisced. "But now, I think I'd give anything to feel it again. Because playing during the match, it was the best feeling ever, it felt like I could do anything. And it was the best feeling in the world," she concluded, turning to see Iwaizumi with an awestruck face, making heat immediately rise to her face. "I- that's so corny oh my God I'm so sorry!" She shouted, getting up to bow at Iwaizumi. "Forgive me for making the situation about me I didn't mean to!" She squeaked out, Iwaizumi trying to get her to stand straight again. "How many times do I have to tell you it's fine, and stop bowing at me!" Iwaizumi shouted.
"Iwa-chan!" A voice called out, Iwaizumi and Yumi both turning to see Oikawa, as well as the rest of the team coming towards them. "Be nice to him Iwaizumi-senpai. I have a feeling he's been thinking about this practice match over and over in his head," Yumi whispered as Oikawa got close. Iwaizumi made a face at the girl, but decided she was most likely correct and nodded his hello towards his captain. "How was your couple's ride here?" Oikawa asked, looking between the two who stood next to each other. And with one simple question, being nice was thrown out the window as Iwaizumi hit the back of Oikawa's head. "We're not dating," Iwaizumi said before Yumi even had the chance to butt in. She facepalmed herself, she should've known this was going to happen. "Yu-chan, so tell me, since I forgot to ask you yesterday, what is Bokuto Kotaro like nowadays?" Oikawa asked the manager after the whole team greeted their ace and manager. "To be honest, I'm not sure. I met Bokuto in middle school, but after I stopped going, I didn't get to see him until this moment," Yumi said with a shrug. "He was talented from the start, that's for sure. I'm sure he's gotten better as the years passed," she offered Oikawa, who decided to focus on something else. "You haven't seen him in years and you're meeting him looking like this?" Oikawa screeched, pointing to Yumi's Aoba Johsai tracksuit with a cropped black spaghetti strapped shirt that showed the girl's midriff. "Uh, Oikawa-senpai, you do know I have to wear my uniform, right? Like, how else would they know I am your manager and not a crazed Oikawa Tōru super fan?" She questioned, who was met with a scoff and a snort of laughter. "Yeah, well, whatever, just remember as our manager you have to cheer for us, NOT the opposing team," Oikawa said before walking away, making Yumi roll her eyes. "What's with the sudden mood change?" She whispered to Matsukawa and Hanamaki, who both just patted her head. "Don't mind him, he's just being melodramatic," Hanamaki explained, Matsukawa nodding in agreement. "He'll be over it soon, don't sweat it."
